Hi all,

Yesterday I had an opportunity to attend the legends and champions “pool school” held at the Hungry stick. Since we were a little short on cameras I offered to post the photos that I took.

All in all I would say it was an excellent experience and well worth the price of admission. Both Johnny Archer and Nick Varner are SUPER nice guys and very approachable. Johnny’s focus was on stroke mechanics and aiming while Nick’s was more of an open format ask anything you want sort of deal. Many thanks to Mark Cantrill for organizing the event and the staff of the Hungry Stick for hosting it. (You guys rock)

Thanks,

Dave

HAHA. Nobody escapes. :D I would have liked to have gotten some photos of the actual instruction time but I didn’t want to be rude and flash anyone. BTW that’s me in pic #4 with the Karen Corr glasses.

Cheers,

Dave

Great pics! Last year I asked Earl if he minded if I took pictures during the lesson and he didn't so I just flashed away. :) I think I took almost 100 pics. Plus three of the guys in my class were my buddies so I knew they didn't mind. A few of them are posted here.

I have some follow up questions for Johnny so I am attending the school again. Plus I have a whole slew of new question for Nick. I've been playing for so long that any little improvement is a big deal to me and I can honestly say that I got a lot out of the lessons.

That looks like the Hungry Stick. Funny, I go there to play foosball (tuesday and friday nights), but not pool, really.

Worth the price of admission just to have a pic with those guys.
Looks like a very nice room, we don't have anything like that around these parts.

Thank you for posting those pics, We all had a gfreat time and the Hungry Stick is a great place to play if you are ever in SD.
As BVal said yes it was nice to have one with JA and everyone was really nice Thanks to Fran for all her help thats the good looking gal in the first pic whio is just as nice as anyone can be. She is also a fellow AZer.

I hope we can come back next year to THe Hungry Stick.

Nice pics. bflad you should post the pics I send you of the pool school in new jersey.

Forget about Archer and Varner, look at those tables.

The tables are pretty nice indeed. They are a little banged up and need new aprons. They are all later models than any other anniversaries I have seen. The nameplates are square and look just like the nameplates on the gold crowns. They all have ball return and score keepers which I am also led to believe was more prevalent on later models.

I just picked up an 1963 catalog anniversary from craigslist and it doesnt have the score keeper or ball return, but its in real nice condition and these are newer than mine.

I do need to thank the APA of San Diego and Brian Frankland also for their help in getting the word out to the pool community in San Diego.
The APA League Operators and players play a big part in making the Legends and Champions Pool Tour a success. We are focused on bringing top pro attention to places that do not always get this kind of exposure. We also do this as inexpensivly as possible so that the average player and pool room can make it happen and hopefully bringf a little excitement to the area. We do this on a very small budget and so the help of the APA is greatly appreciated not only in San Diego but in areas all over the country.

Thanks again to the APA and everyone else who helps us bring the Legends and Champions Pool Tour to their town, City or area along the way.
Mark,
