It appears that only a handful of players actually won a qualifier and the rest were invited. How does this make it a World Championship, and how is that fair to those who paid to play in an actual qualifier?
I am pretty sure Angel Paglia didn't win a qualifier to play in the World Championship either. I know she used to play on the WPBA but hasn't lately and even when she did play in some events last year she didn't do well. She has been playing more lately but still nothing I would qualify as meriting an invite to the Tourney. Turns out she didn't play because of dehydration or something like that but she was still invited and imo undeservedly. Hey she is pretty though.

I stand corrected about the qualifier. As far as if she would have just been invited - I disagree. She was a top 32 contender a few years ago but not recently.Angel won a qualifier. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=140995
Having proved herself as a top 32 contender on the WPBA when she did play, is (to me) good enough to warrant a spot if she would've been invited.
Sam Waltz:
Why don't we just put an astrisk by your name and put "F'in' Charlie Williams" in brackets by it to explain why your there!

Yes it has been pointed out already and I stand corrected.Angel won the 1st qualifier here in Orlando.
Angel is an awesome player. Sucks she couldn't make itAngel won the 1st qualifier here in Orlando.
Angel is a good player but not world class imo. It does suck she couldn't make it because she did qualify.Angel is an awesome player. Sucks she couldn't make it![]()
Sam's post was so out of line and vicious, it makes me despair for mankind in general.
Classic sexism: "oh, the girl couldn't have gotten that job without f*cking the boss".
He's never seen her hit a single goddamned ball.
If he has a spouse, I pity her for the hateful loser she's been saddled with.
I hope his backwards ignorant ass really does get banned.
This is a friend of mine. Whether or not she "should" play in any tournament, your cheap public shot about her sleeping her way into it means I might make a point to meet you so I can put that asterisk up your ass where you'll get a good look at it.

To Charlie Williams' newest FB, Zarah Delrosario: Pool is a professional sport played by women who have worked their entire lives to attain the skills they have. They have earned their right to play in a world championship, on the other hand you absolutely have not! Your an admitted amatuer and your only playing in this event due to your attachments with Charlie Williams. I reviewed the list of players that will be competing in the tournament and all are reputable professionals or qualifiers who won their way in...then there is you. I have an idea! Why don't we just put an astrisk by your name and put "F'in' Charlie Williams" in brackets by it to explain why your there! At least with girls like you around Charlie won't need to be sneekin' around hotel rooms tryin' to get some! You wanna be a pool player Zarah? Do the work, then the opportunities will be genuine!
To Charlie Williams: hmmmmmm, I just don't think there's anything I could put here without getting banned! Oh well, let your imagination run wild with what I might have written.
*These are my OPINIONS! If you disagree, so be it. If I get banned...farewell my fellow AZers, it's been great!*
When was the last time you saw her play?If Angel P plays like she did the last time I saw her, I like her over a LOT of women pros. She played perfectly.
1 - As a photographer myself, I would love to see some of Zarah's work. Is there a website? (If she is a professional, she will have one.)Sam Waltz...Your post is in very poor taste. You're making some pretty big assumptions here (which are totally wrong, btw)...and you know what happens when you ASSUME! Zarah got her "opportunity" to learn because of her skill as a professional photographer...and nothing else. Charlie knows a good marketing opportunity when he sees one. I'm not condoning CW's behavior (as I have disagreed with many things he's done in the past), however, that's not what's going on here. Zarah is a really nice girl, who happens to be pretty, and more importantly, has a skill that CW could use (photography).
She, as an amateur, was invited which means a worthy pro did not get that invite. Not hating on her for that... that's all CW and I bet it has more to do with her beauty than artistic skills. If it were, she'd have been hired as a photographer. How is she supposed to photograph an event she's playing in? I do find the press release photo and its caption funny. I would have turned in a more professional looking headshot. Curious question: If she lives in Chicago, how is she representing the Philippines?Marissa...I can't say if she is a complete professional, but that's her vocation, and what she makes her living at...afaik. Don't know if she has a website, but probably does. Maybe one of the Chicago guys know the site address. About being invited...I guess Lara doesn't know CW...which would be the difference here. To be fair, Zarah only met CW immediately prior to the exhibition that he, Hohman and Bustamante did at Pressure Billiards, in Feb. Zarah was there to watch, and brought her photo gear as a favor to one of our friends (Dave...another Pinoy, and AzB reader), who wanted to get some good shots of him playing Bustamante. Obviously CW was impressed with her photography skills, and 'hired' her (barter) to take pics of the whole event...which were posted here...as well as at the Predator school a couple of days later, out in Villa Park. I still don't see the big deal about her getting invited. She did not cheat anybody else out of a shot at that tournament...and was not the only person "invited" to come play. I can tell you one thing for certain...she won't knock anybody out, who would otherwise have a chance to win. The travel and experience is a great thing for a young woman...whether she "earned" her way there, via skill, or not.
