I was just wondering if anyone has had Lasik surgery and if so, any success stories? Disaster stories?

I play pool and am pretty badly nearsighted. I'm satisfied with wearing contact lenses while playing. I get down low while shooting, so normal framed glasses obviously get in the way. I've never considered getting the "high framed" pool glasses because errrrr, I just don't.

I had Lasic surgery in 2000 and I couldn't be happier. I was almost legally blind without my glasses. In fact, I couldn't tell gender from more than 25 feet. My vision was about 20/300 without correction. Now it's 20/15. I still have to use readers as I'm well into my 50's but I can spot a gnat on a flies butt at 20 paces.:D
 
I know Jeanette had Lasik and it worked fine.
My dad had it in his late 60s. One eye was fine the other eye had to have additional work because the type he had to have required some sort of special attachment that came loose (his own fault). He went back they did the repair work and now he's fine.

These Synergyes contact lenses can be made for high powered prescriptions too. Since these are custom contact lenses, they cost about $450/year but I think they may be a good alternative to having LASIK surgery.

I'm trying these lenses out right now and so far I've been pleased with the results.

No, I haven't heard of them. Thanks for informing me about them. I'll check into them next time I have an eye exam.

I've heard good and bad with Lasik...mostly good, but I'm still afraid of having it done. I doubt I ever will.
 
i had it done about 2 1/2 years ago at TLC in Little rock, Ar it cost $4000 best money i have ever spent i did have to go back 3 months later to have my left Eye inhansed a little more but that was free i am 20/15 now

TlC is company that did Tiger woods eyes
 
I had it done about seven years ago- best move I could have made.:thumbup:

It's no fun, but it's not too bad- I would rate it on par with having a couple of cavities filled by your dentist as far as discomfort goes.
 
I ordered single use contacts for playing. They can't correct .25 Astigmatism. I also can't feel comfortable with it after 3 months. I already had glasses before which is .25 Astigmatism and -50/-75. I lowered the grade by 25 than my normal pair, as I feel it's the best for shooting pool. I had it purposely made not to look like Dennis Taylor (Snooker Player).

I might undergo Lasik. Still thinking about it.
 
I had it done in about 2004. I can see 20/15 now. My work actually paid for over half the surgery so I only had to pay about $1100 for both eyes. Best decision ever. I can finally wakeboard/snowboard/waterski/ride motorcycle/tolerate smokey bars, without the inherent problems associated with contacts and glasses with each activity. I had PRK on one eye and Lasik in the other because the machine that cuts your eye open for lasik couldn't latch onto my eye properly. The end result was the same for both eyes but the prk took longer to heal/restore my vision, it took about 1 month before I could see with that eye clearly.
 
Lasik!

I did it in 2001 and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself! I highly recommend the procedure. :thumbup:

I'm a lasik survivor! Best thing I ever did. Wore glasses for 24 years and now I haven't worn a pair in 10 years. It does cause issues with night vision, a slight hazing that's more annoying than anything else. If your a truck driver and drive at night, not the best move I'd say, otherwise, it's the way to go.

x2....I had mine in 1999 and my eyes were not as bad, but the results are the same.

My wife recently had lasic after wearing strong perscription glasses for most of her life. Se went from 20/400 in both eyes to 20/15 in both eyes virtually overnight with no complications.

You can get lasic done for as little as 750.00 per eye, but it is definately worth the extra money to go to a reputable eye clinic and pay the 4 grand for the peace of mind.

She went to the Berkley Eye Center here in Houston.
 
Did mine through TLC and I am glad I did. No more contacts or glasses. They do have side affects though which probably vary from person to person. For example my eyes can be a bit blurry when I yawn, but then will get refocused. It takes awhile for your eyes to not be as dry where you have to use the drops every hour or so. It may take your eyes up to 6 months to heal fully and to not have to do this. I do not put drops in my eyes anymore. They also were able to correct my astigmatism (sp). It is not cheap or $2700 for mine, but it is getting cheaper. I had PRK done which is more painful after the surgery but only for about a day or two and then it gets less and less. With PRK they have to put a protective bandaid contact on for a few days. I still think all in all it is completely worth it, especially when playing pool and not have to look over glasses.

I had Lasik surgery about 4 years ago and it saved my pool playing. I was near sighted and I wore thick glasses and the glasses gave me a headache after I wore them for a while. I got contact lens and they were great until I developed dry eyes and I had to quit wearing my contacts because they felt like I had bits of sand in my eyes because of the dry eye syndrome.

I had the Lasik surgery done and I can play pool and watch TV etc. without glasses or contact lens. One disadvantage is I went from being near sighted to having to wear reading glasses to see up close which I'll gladly do to be able to see OK playing pool and everything else. I didn't get the exceptional results i've heard some people say they got, but i'm very happy with my out come.
