Looking for a light travel case and came across this one but i couldn't find much info on it. Anyone use or have one of these at some point? I'm curious about the interior and how good the protection is.

Excellent soft case! I've had one for years and it's still in great shape. Your cue is well protected, except in the case of a catastrophic accident. Well insulated for differences in temperature, such as in a car or outside. I've used this case to transport cues on an airplane with no problems. And I know it's getting tossed around with other luggage.

I too have had one for years. I put hard tubes in it and have lots of space for 'stuff' inside and in the pockets. OOps.. mine was a BR2

I also have one and love it. It is super light and like others have said there is a ton of room. There is a short sleeve in mine that accommodates a jump butt, and pouches all over it. I talked the owner of Showcase billiards into throwing it in for free when I bought a 500 dollar cue from him.

Silver fox makes in my opinion the best looking soft cases on the market. The quality is excellent as well. And their hard cases look very nice too though I have not seen on in person.

great cast that holds up for years and years. you can stuff way more cues than it has sleeves for too.

Silver Fox - BR33 - Hard 2x4 case with Soft Lining - $90
Instroke Premier - Hard 2x4 case with PVC tubes - $143

Do the math, $53 extra and you get the best protective case on earth.

mines together-been ruffed up-but is softsided

Good american case company, mine is 4-8, lots of pocket room-but I bought it for carrying around 10 shafts couple butts.Lot of case for the money.mark

In my earlier post I ws referring, mistakenly, to the Br2.

It just so happens, however, that I have a BR33 as well. It's a very nice case made with a hard outer shell and lined slots for the cue(s) inside. Lots of pockets and very light weight. Very nice case.

I personally prefer the BR2 with a few hard tubes placed inside.

you can pick up Silver Foxes for well under $90....and I'm sure Home Depot or Lowes could supply you with tubes for added protection for MUCH less than the difference between the BR and the Instroke Premier....so, if it is math you want; save your money and get the Silver Fox, buy some tubes, and have a MUCH better looking case to boot (never liked the funky vinyl look of the Premier). Added bonus - more nooks, crannies, etc. = more storage in the Silver Fox as well.

BTW, I think I (as some others did) was thinking of the roomy 4x8 case. They are a steal, and can be beefed up if you require more protection.

Great cases - but, despite the erroneous description, they are NOT REAL leather - very good high grade vinyl.

Also, for those who said that Silver Fox is an American company in the implication that the cases are made in the USA - as far as I know they aren't made in the USA. But I could be wrong here and certainly welcome correction.

Overall though excellent products.

I read the posts and it sounds like most are talking about the br2 model but i could be wrong.

I wanted to know more about the br33 case because im looking for a lightweight hard case that will hold my carom cue.

The interior of this case is done with fabric dividers that will hold your carom cue comfortably. The only thing to be careful of is that your carom cue might sink lower than the top of the cavities in which case you will need to tip the case to get the cue to come out or stuff something in the cavity to make the cue sit higher.

If you want better protection then may I suggest the Sterling classic cases with the NEW padded interior.

This is what it looks like inside.

I just got off the phone with the owner and designer of Silver Fox Cases, since they are just up the road from me in Bellingham, WA. We had a very nice conversation, and I asked him straight out about whether or not their cases are made in the US or not, and he was quite candid in his response..."All of our cases were originally designed and manufactured here in-house. However, in recent years, with the need to keep up with production and to stay competitive in the market, some of the production has gone overseas. I would say that currently, about 50% of our cases are still manufactured in-house, with the other 50% being manufactured overseas."

So there you have it, from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

John....I did find it quite interesting that he told me that back when he began the company, it was because, at that time, there was really only one American company mass-producing cases. He had some very expensive Schon cues, and had them in this other American company's case, which required him to turn the case upside down to retrieve them...well, you guessed it...his cues got accidentally damaged, and that is what spurred him to design "a better case". Hmmmm...this story does sound oddly familiar.

Anyways...Silver Fox Case Company has been around for many, many years now, quietly making cases up here in the Pacific Northwest. Most that I have seen are made of a high quality vinyl...but I believe I have seen a leather version or two. For anyone interested, here is the link to their website: http://www.silverfoxcase.com/pages/351965/index.htm

Lisa =====> oddly, has owned a case from just about every company out there at one time or another, but never got around to a Silver Fox.

My experience with Silver Fox

I, too, thought the Silver Fox cases were a good soft case, and was considering the BR-2, but had been told, by the retailer, that they had redesigned the pockets, and had put a long pocket on the Br-2 to hold a jump cue butt. The retailer said they were waiting on updated pictures of the BR-2. I had the retailer contact Silver Fox, and I, later on, contacted Silver Fox, trying them to get new pictures of the updated case to the retailer so I could actually see them for myself.

After 6 months of waiting, Silver Fox still had not sent out the new picture of the BR-2 to the retailer, or any retailer that I know of. I was not impressed with Silver Fox's customer service, and even less impressed that someone in the company couldn't take 5 minutes to load a picture of the New BR-2 case into a computer (scan it in), and email it to the retailer, so they could put it on their website. I ended up buying another case.

JOhn ... Sorry, but the webbing straps going around the OUTSIDE of the Sterling case is a turnoff, and so is the location of the handle. Why don't they put the handle on the side of the case where it belongs???

Funny you are a sterling dealier JB lol. I don't think that sterling is any bit better protection than a Silver Fox hard case. And the looks certainly are not better.

When you make a blanket statement like that, you had better have your ducks in order. While I have never owned a Silver Fox case, I have certainly seen more than my fair share, since they are a local company to me. I have had the opportunity to thoroughly inspect the interiors of several. I own and currently use a Sterling Wave case. Both cases are very well crafted. Yes, I too agree that the Silver Fox case is asthetically more appealing than the Sterling example that John has provided. But the interiors are vastly different. The Silver Fox hard case has an interior that features nice cloth dividers, much like that found in an It's George, or other like cases. The New Sterling cases that feature the Organic Rebound System or Ultrapad System are quite cushy inside, and are a hybrid between the cloth dividers and the PVC tubes...not to mention all the padding. I would have to give the Sterling cases the edge over the Silver Fox cases for ultimate protection...and I like the Silver Fox cases.

It might also shock a lot of people to realize just how many cases and interiors that John has had a hand in designing in...and how many of you out there are carrying one and don't even know it.

Before we start beating up on the man...the OP did say that he was looking for a nice, lightweight case for his carom cue, and had had an interest in the Silver Fox BR-33, because it looked like it might fit the bill. He was simply asking questions about it. All I saw was that John was offering a viable alternative to the Silver Fox case. I noticed no one mentioned the post previous to John's where an Instroke Premier case was also suggested.

Some people here need to relax a little bit...things have been stressed around here for a while...not sure if it's the current economic situation that has everyone so uptight.

For the record...as I have previously mentioned...I have owned a LOT of different makers' cases...some were good, some okay, some were less than impressive. It is all a matter of taste, and specific need. I currently have a case that I am very happy with, that is lightweight, and gets the job done quite nicely. It suits my needs, it may not suit others.

Some of us seem to forget that it was not all that long ago when a decent cue case was hard to find...or you paid for it. And yes, in the past, some pretty inferior product was coming from overseas...but that is no longer the case.

Lest we not forget...one of THE most successful case lines came out of Instroke. That case line was produced overseas...in Germany. People bought them by the droves, because it was a far superior product to what we had been offered in the past in a production cue case. And, oddly, no one seemed to mind that they were produced off-shore. Are you gonna dog Jack Justis because he has chosen to have some of his cases produced off-shore? Yeah...I didn't think so.

Some of you need to get over yourselves....a great product is a great product, no matter where it is produced.

Lisa ====> really sick of this 'us and them' mentality.
