My take on Pool Wars.

I know there are other threads out there about Jay's book, but I don't care I am going to start my own. I received the book yesterday and read it cover to cover. "GREAT BOOK" really entertaining. If you liked Danny, Grady and Freddy's books you will love this one. Of coarse most stories aren't without some depressing points. His account about the Camel tour and some other decisions that were made about the men's game was really a damn shame. To me that whole situation was worse than the IPT disaster. It was like the Titanic disaster for the pool world. I won't spoil it for you, get over to Jay's site and buy it. Its worth it.

I am going to post a youtube video about it and will post here when it's done.:thumbup:
 
Jay writes well...

I read the book in one sitting. I am thinking that the sequel should be about the size of War and Peace. Then it would last two or three days.

All kidding aside, Jay has captured all the elements of the pool scene at the time it was happening. It is a true account and very entertaining. The only part that upset me was the van accident. It felt like you were there.

We were all lucky we didn't get killed. Keith, Cecil Tugwell, Bill Mielke and me were all aboard that fateful day. Keith got hurt the worst, and he still played in the Reno Tourney two days later. I wish I had a photo of him all bandaged up at the table and running out.

Hey there Jam, ask Keith to tell you about our near fatal accident.

Jay's book was a cover-to-cover read for me also. I couldn't put it down and it left me ready for more. What is Freddy's book that you mention? I don't know that one.

Banking with the Beard and The Gospool of Banks are books primarily about banking but he includes memoirs with all the banking stuff.
 
Read mine in 2 days. Planned to spread it out but couldn't.

I wish that Jay would pen a 3rd book (#2 is in the planning) that would feature chapters on the great players he rubbed elbows with, his insights into their play and personalities, any quirks they may have, etc. I would love to read more "inside info" on the great players.

There are zillions of stories out there that we DON'T know about. Yet...:D
 
I ordered mine through Amazon.com in the morning and received notice in the afternoon that Jay had shipped it. Wow. I'm really looking forward to reading the book.

Got a signed copy via "the Beard" and loved the book. Lots of good So Cal stuff and especially cool pictures.
 
I also received my signed (thanks jay!) book recently. finished the book in a night (and I am a slooow reader)...I just couldn't put it down. Anyhow, I thought the book was an excellent no holds capture of an era that I would loved to have experienced.

wonder who that "canadian" snooker player was...hehehe

looking forward to the next book Jay!
 
Just finished my copy. Great stories. I really enjoyed it. A volume 2 would be nice to have.
