Free Pool Lessons! With Shanelle Loraine, Wayne Catledge & More at Corner Pockets,FL

Every Tuesday from 630pm-8pm Corner Pocket Billiards provides free pool lesson to all players. Most of this is catered towards beginner and intermediate level players.
Billiards celebrity Shanelle Loraine, senior pro Wayne Catledge, and others will alternate each Tues for the weekly lessons. House pro Charlie Williams will also jump in from time to time.

The past few months Corner Pockets has hosted free lessons with Shanelle, top FL pro Michell Monk, and Charlie Williams.

Tomorrow night July 21 Shanelle Loraine will be teaching.

No cost to sign up. To register call Corner Pockets at (407) 282-5894 or email cornerpocketsorlando@gmail.com

I don't see what the problem is? This pool hall is giving free lessons to beginner and intermediate players. I'm sure after a free lesson, these players will rent a table and want to practice what they have just learned. It seems like good business to me.
Maybe I'm missing some kind of inside joke here? Shanelle is pretty and therefore cant teach pool? So what if she has never run a rack of 9 ball, maybe she knows how to in her head. After all, the old saying is "those who can't ....teach".
Who knows, maybe some of these beginners will get better and then they could take lessons from David Sapolis. Advanced lessons don't come for free. I see this as a win win for everybody involved. JMHO

Heard Shanelle beat girl who got 2nd to Jasmin at European Championships this year. Veronika something, she beat Jeanette Lee on TV and then Shanelle beat her. This happened at the World 10Ball Championship. I think Loraines game has improved alot

She still plays like poop.

No, she can't run two balls much less a rack, therefore she isn't qualified to teach.

$20 says she giggles, bats her eyes, and uses the term "perfect rack" during her "lesson".

explanation for my rant

Has Shanelle ever even broke and ran a rack? I'd take lessons from many female pros, including our own az'er Sarah Rousey. I wouldn't take lessons from someone unless I thought they could beat me, and I do not think Shanelle can beat me. Isn't she just Charlie Williams' poster girl?

I don't mean to sound negative, or knock Shanelle. It's just that I think Charlie Williams only cares about exploiting the game, and that offends those of us that actually love the game. In my opinion, Shanelle profits from this scenario based on her looks and not her skill. We can't fault her for that. I can, and should be bitter when certain players like Sarah Rousey, who could spot Shanelle multiple balls, misses out on endorsement deals because she doesn't dress like a hooker.

Just thought I'd explain myself. Maybe I just care too much.

This sums up my thoughts on DP/Shanelle perfectly. Well said.

Exactly. Thank you.

amen

Is this a joke?

Seriously.

Shanelle is about as qualified to give pool lessons as Charlie is qualified to give a seminar on women's rights.

amen, who would want lessons from her, other than the fact she is hot!

This whole thread just proves how shallow people can be. You have a group of people who are trying to promote the game..... It doesn't matter how good or bad a player a person is, what's important is that their trying to help the game that everyone say's is dying.

I had the pleasure of meeting and playing Shanelle in Valley Forge in 08, I happend to Break & Run the rack big deal. I was more happy to meet the lady, get an autograph and a laugh or two.

I then played Charlie got the break made 3 on the break but scratched, he promptly killed me. Still had a nice time none the less. Don't know him personally couldn't care less what he does off the table he's human just like everyone else.

Rather than sit around and focus on what other don't, or can't do try looking at what they can and do.

Well, it sounds like everyone is in agreement that she is not a top player.

Wait... was that even up for debate? She is listed as a billiards celebrity and that she is. They made NO attempt to pass her off as anything more than she is. I may even agree with the attitude here IF she was touted as a top player. THEN it would be apropriate to call her skill into question. This event is NOT hinging on her ability to play, or teach.

If they also said the room owner would be on hand to meet players and introduce them to the room, would everyone jump all over that and say " wait, he can't play! This is an outrage!" He would have been mentioned as a room owner, NOT a player. His playing ability would not be a factor at all.

They have listed others who, most agree, would have more than enough credentials to teach. Again, what is the problem? Who loses here?

Let me say I am not well known in the pool world as a player, teacher, celebrity, etc. I KNOW FOR A FACT I am qualified to teach a beginner and introduce him to the game properly. I do not see why anyone listed would not be either. Does anyone think that the other players/teachers would sit there and let Shanelle give out incorrect instruction right in front of them?

To David: I have a great deal of respect for you, and I know you are a great teacher with a lot to offer any student. This in no way harms you or your livlihood. It can only help. There will always be way more casual players than serious ones. By increasing the number of people exposed to the game, it will only help everyone who makes a living from it. You say it cheapens what you do, or that it would lead some to believe that you are charging excessively. I disagree.

Does the fact that I can buy a brand new cue for $50 hurt say, Southwest cues? They are not going after the same market. Can sombody say that Southwest charges too much, and I would never pay more than $100 for a cue? Yes, and some do, but that does not affect the value or the sales of their cues.

If I have a promotional event and give away a FREE southwest cue, has this hurt Southwest or the cuemaking industry? No, it has given them even more exposure to some who may have not heard of southwest or is familliar with custom cues. Do you really think that sombody will call up southwest or sombody selling a southwest and say " you know, I saw one of these given away for free, so I think you are crazy to want $1800 for that cue"

I remember mentioning that I was going to take a pool lesson, and someone was just amazed that I would feel the need to do that. " Why would you need a pool lesson?" They did not even know that anyone would need one, they figured you just banged some balls around for awhile, and you gradually got better.

An event like this is a GREAT introduction for new and almost new players. This increases the awareness of the game, billiard instruction, and this pool room.

Before anyone throws some more criticism out there, WILL YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHO THIS IS HURTING? Who is losing out here. I want to know who is specifically being wronged. A real world, possible worst case scenario.

Do you realize that there are a large number of people who are just flat out NOT comfortable to just walk into a pool room? They have seen too many movies where fighting and all kinds of bad behavior goes on in them. They have NEVER been in a pool room before, so they do not know how true it may or may not be. So they will not risk it.

Or at the very least, are not comfortable with the possibility of looking foolish while trying to figure things out. I bet just about everyone here was introduced to the game by someone first, BEFORE walking into a pool room. Or you were brought there by someone else.

Events like these encourage new players to come in and try it out. They know they will be in the company of others who are still learning. They know they will have some guidance as to how to do things.

I just do not see what the harm is that is being done here. Anyone who thinks this is such a bad thing is welcome to put on a FREE promotion and show us all the proper way to promote the game. Or you could just continue to sit back and criticize others for even trying. If you want it done the way you want it done, then you are the best qualified to do it.

I would welcome ALL genuine attempts to promote this game on any and all levels.

I can imagine that having massive mammaries in a hot pool room a girl might want to have a little air circulation. Some seem offended by Shanelle's cleavage and will even call her names over it but maybe if they knew what it was like to have large natural breasts they wouldn't be so opposed to some innocent air-circulation allowing low cut shirts.

The one word that comes to mind when I read your post is - Absurd.

I could justify the absurdity with many examples and explanations but its not worth it. From previous posts you've made on the subject, you have your way of thinking and I have mine. I will take a moment to point out one thing. Due to the way she dresses, there are some folks out there that are not aware of the magnitude of the assets Ms Corr has. Her assets could probably spot Shanelles assets just as much weight as Ms Corrs game could spot Ms Lorraines. The difference (besides the obvious pool playing ability) is that Ms Corr has more class and uses her skills to get noticed in the pool world instead of using her assets to get noticed and to hide her lack of skills. Outside of that point, I'm going to agree to disagree with your train of thought on Ms Lorraines lack of clothing.
