Paper Veneers

Lets start a thread showcasing new/fresh Veneer work ideas.
Hoping to see photo's of cues with thin paper type work in the points (between veneers)

Also want to see photo's of cues with very high end veneer work.

I'll post a few that really impresses me in a few minutes.
 

Love the paper veneers (small black lines between veneers)
Also that White Veneer material is also nice....



Lets see some good photos of UNREAL veneer work....

Nice pics man, is it just me, do the paper veneers just make the points look more finished, and clean?

Perhaps someone will post some of Dennis Searings new veneer work. I expect it is quite impressive.

Super topic - seperating the better/from the best!

these cues so far really stand out !!!! That is tuff making 45/90's in thin veneers. So I've been told. shows the cuemakers talents Somewhere For /sale I saw some Rundy's that fit this bill. thanks to all for Posting. How about JW's and some Tads. mark
 
Those are nice, as are mine. But he has a new process of making veneers. Revolutionary is some ways. I think there are only a couple of cues with them so far. Those are the ones that I am referring too.
 
This one just came up for sale, i THINK it has some paper veneer work in the points. The points on this cue sure look nice!

There's no secret in paper veneers , they simply help hide mitre flaws and help to prevent tear out during maching. They do add a nice 'touch' tho.


Personally , razor sharp paperless points are more impressive . . .

Not sure why , perhaps it just backs up the veneers some or lessens friction. Or they just fills or hide gaps. Either way , they surely give the appearance of sharper points than without them unless the points are Purh...fect.

I was just reading these posts and was about to ask the same question and then I seen your post. I can't for the life of me understand how the thin paper veneers hide poor workmanship or prevent tear out. Sharp cutters and attention to detail is the trick for consistent good work, not paper veneers. The paper certainly doesn't hide obvious glue lines in the different colored veneers.

The two BR cue links in my sig both have paper veneers and are done by Bob from DZ cues. He's the man!!

Me either , never said any of those things. Maybe we're reading two different threads. :)

Never said they hide obvious glue lines, never said they hide poor workmanship , never said they cover for poor tooling.

Simply said they help give the appearance of sharper points. However , they do do a better job of hiding thier own glue lines and they certainly help to sharpen points particularly when using contrasting woods. But that's just my experience doing them both ways.

Maybe it's just to how fine a degree you want ot split hairs. Or would you say they do absolutely nothing at all ?

On a more serious note...the fact that Dennis and I had a discussion about the new veneers means that I absolutely in awe of just how nice these have turned out! I knew they were gonna be great...but even these have exceeded my expectations!!
