To Charlie Williams, Dragon Promotions and whomever else I may have offended:
I hereby publicly and sincerely apologize to Charlie Williams, Dragon Promotions and any sponsors I may have offended. I am also sorry for any bad things I've said about the abovementioned.
I am 100% wrong and there is no excuse for my behavior. Everyone in the billiard community has my word that this type of behavior will never happen again.
I am grateful to Charlie and Dragon Promotions for this second opportunity.
Respectfully,
Grady Mathews
Initially, the first year I funded this event, I tried, on gradys behalf to procure him an invite. There were multiple attempts from my camp. I was
sad he didn't receive an invite.
That changed quickly with gradys unsolicited, viscious, personal attacks on Dragon promotions AND it's staff. Charlie Williams. Myself AND the tournament itself.
Principally, Grady, you had fundemental grievances about the tournament, it's format, it's professionalism and it's players and more importantly, how they were selected. Paramount to this, was that you "believe in my heart" Charlie was "terrible" for our sport.
How can an invite change ALL of that? I mean, all of your other fundemental, significant differences still remain. How will you justify that in your mind without appearing to be obviously hypocritical.
Your other arguement was that you play so much better than most of the field. I can guarantee, that if you were invited, and didn't do the noble thing by respectfully declining, there will be more eyes watching and waiting to critique, good or bad, all of your performances there.
You don't have much time to "get in shape".
Fwiw, had I still been sponsoring the event, and because of the wayyou attacked me, after I tried to help you, and then considering to me that you made, what I perceived to be an anti-semetic remark, directed at me. I would have guaranteed and insisted you not be invited.
Your apology did nothing for me, Grady.
