Folks:

As the Title says, "I must be getting old, I even got gray rep today!"

Seriously, I've never seen this -- anyone know what causes gray rep? (And yes, besides "age" to head off those wittle wascals who want to reply so. ;) )

Green rep == good;
Red rep == bad;
Gray rep == good answer, but it's stale or "played"? :D

Its just rep sent from someone with little or no rep himself.

Yea....your old as dirt....:p

Ripening rep?

It'll turn green or red once they have enough rep.:wink:

Ah, I see. It will "ripen." So this gray rep is "rep still in the bud, that ripens later."

:p

Thanks all for the responses! I don't feel so bad now. (Although I shouldn't have a "gray-phobia" -- I am startin' to sport the wings. ;) )

Warmest regards,
-Sean

And I would have bet nothing would have made me laugh today( Monday and the first day back to work after a long vacation ).:D

Gray rep is not determined by the amount of rep the repper has, it just means that they have less than 50 posts.

50 posts is the magic number where the forum allows your rep to mean something...(in terms of giving out rep points).

A person could have 100 million rep points, but if they have less than 50 posts, their rep still shows up as gray, and you don't get (or lose) any points from it.

Trust me, I know. I remember getting a red rep when I was a newbie, because the person I gave positive rep to thought I was giving him negative rep, because it showed up as gray.
