Well this just came in the mail from Crown Cues! I cant wait to put it through its paces tonight and see how it plays but I am sure it plays great. The cue is made from one piece of curly maple so it and flows perfectly. This is my first cue with a joint that matches the ring work, always wanted that and think it is a nice touch. Let me know what you think. The maker Gene La Viness did and awesome job on this and is highly recommended, customer service is top notch along with workmanship. The pics do not do it justice IMO. Thanks Don, it plays very nice, has a softer hit then I am used to but I might put a birdseye shaft on it, nice balance and the ball is easily moved around the table. :)

Glad you like your new cue man. what're the specs? weight,tips size, taper, joint/handle width etc...?

where're you getting a birdseye shaft from? what's different about a birdseye shaft? wouldn't that soften the hit up? what'd the cue set you back and what was the turn around like? did you design it completely or did you give the maker creative control

The shaft is a 12 inch pro taper at 12.7mm, I birdseye shaft that is very busy will play very stiff which I like. The weight is at 19oz but feels lighter because of the balance. The joint is a 3/8-10. The cue retails for $350 I believe which is a bargain and it is made from one piece of curly maple so it flows so good, it was designed by the maker Gene. The butt feels a little thicker but I have big hands so it does not bother me at all. :)

Who's going to make the BEM shaft for you?

Well, if not, and if you really want a BEM shaft, give Gene a holler. He's real big on the curly shafts (he uses 2 or 3, himself) and I'm sure he'd be glad to make you a BEM shaft. It might not be an "Eye Shaft" but it would be something that would do you proud.

I have never played with a curly shaft Renee', could you ask Gene how it plays and is it as stiff as a birdseye shaft? I know the more birdseye in a shaft the stiffer it plays. :)
 
Lenny, I got a cue from Gene and Renee not to long ago, it plays jam up. Love it, looks great. Everyone who see's it says its a very beautiful cue. I think mine plays a bit soft to, but its probably just the elk master tip ;-). Bump for Crown Cue cue buddys!
