Hopkins sent me a txt saying he made the final 16 last night. So, I go to azb to read the articles on what happened yesterday. There were all sorts of mentions about people who didn't make it, people who squeaked-in, the Germans, Corey's side-pocket breaks.... but I couldn't find one mention of Hopkins.... as if the guy isn't undefeated in the championship and is a former world 14.1 champ.

People must think the guy can't play and isn't worth mentioning - he's just getting warmed up! Ortmann, Eckert... both good players. Neither HAVE to beat Hopkins whether he's playing or not. Hopkins didn't hit a ball before the last 14.1 he played and beat Ortmann in the round-robin phase and ended up getting 5th place.

How do they say it? I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was? That's him, alright.

Stick it to them, Hop, and force them to mention ya.

Allen is still tops in my book! He is a master at EVERY game imaginable, and IMO has a good shot to win this for the home team! Keep up the great work, Allen - I hope that everybody continues to underestimate your heart and determination!

The guy's 57 and ran 118 balls yesterday and plays 1/100 of everyone in that field.

I figured I'd mention that since no one can read about it.

You know we can write and submit an article to Mike. What the hell is this world coming to if a Hall of Fame player can't get good press for running 118 and out?

He's definitely one of NJ's finest.

I run into him every few months, in the local NJ Pool scene and he IS STILL a force to be reckoned with.
