I'm tired of the FRAUD going on here!

Okay I’ve been seeing this go on for a while now and I just want to say something about this. I know I am still semi-new here, but this is nonsense! This whole RIPPING people off thing is getting out of hand. I’m selling so & so item for $200 less than the original price, slightly used buy it now for $120... Next thing you know it says Item sold currently payment is pending. Then a few days or week later you hear, won’t answer calls, emails, pm's and so on. Never received said item, the dude who sold said item is $120 richer and only had say 16 posts. PayPal gets contacted if they used that, and a whole hassle becomes of this. The buyer probably doesn't see said item or their money and learn a lesson. Wrong! They get pissed and start not trusting people here. 20, 50, 100, 300 posts don't mean jack to the people who got ripped off. They start to pass up great deals because of one incident. It's BULL I hate to see people rip people off!

This is sad, really... A lot of people on here have a lot of trust for one another, like "guycrunch" who would generously let you test out a cue before you bought it... and people took advantage of that, and it caused an uproar in this community. Again, people keep getting screwed. It's uncalled for, people here now are very weary of new comers who a.) Post something to sell and b.) Want to buy something being sold. There is probably more to list with extra letters to go along with it but I’m keeping it simple. It is very unfortunate for these things to happen...It also ruins it for a lot of people like me for instance, say I wanted to sell a cue I have no use for, but because my post count is not all that high, people might be weary of me, or I might be the one who gets ripped off somehow. It can happen to anyone, and that's what is so frustrating. Also it's not just buying and selling things here either, we also gamble with each other on matches and what not. The winner has NO problem accepting money, but the one who lost the bet, well that’s a different story. They make excuses why they can't pay, or why they feel they shouldn't have to pay, but if it was the other way around they would be like "hey where’s my money!?!"

I have read thousands of posts believe it or not, I have a lot of time on my hands at work, but that’s beside the point. I see there are a lot of people here who have made strong bonds and friendships with one another, have invited one another to play some games at their own home. So when I see all this skipping on bets, fraudulent sales, and so on it just makes me angry! I consider myself a part of this community, a lot of you have taken your time and helped me out with my game, questions, and just random stuff that I ask. When you all don't have to and I want to thank you all for that. This is why I am taking the time to post this, I don’t know if it will do much, but I just wanted to express my feelings towards the stuff that shouldn't be happening. We shouldn't be getting ripped off, we should help each other, pay what we owe when we owe it, send items when we make deals and transactions, and so on, I just hope that there is something we can do to eventually stop the fraud going on in the Wanted/For Sale section. Maybe have a rule about you can't sell something until you so many posts or something. Because I am sick and tired of hearing people getting ripped off here!

Sorry for such the long rant, and thank you for all who actually took the time to read this.

Getting out of hand, its been out of hand since I have been here.

Yea, your definately taking a chance if you deal with some people on here, but for the most part, I think its a good place to conduct buisiness as long as your smart about it and you have good communication with the person your doing buisiness with....I would definately be hesitant to do buisiness with someone new....but at one time, we were all new here.......if you cant afford to lose what you have, (Money, or Cue) ask reputable people on here about the person your dealing with. Or use Escrow...Most everyone on here that has some good Rep will be more than willing to help out, and if they cant, will guide you in the right direction

But then again, some people just plain jump the gun and make a big scene by posting up threads in everyplace they can think of warning us all of someone, and if they had just been a little patient, they would have recieved what they asked for...but instead they try and drag a reputable cuemakers name through the mud........and thats uncalled for in my book

when in doubt, escrow..... Hell, there is even a sticky at the top of the page!

Isn't it worth an additional $20 or so to make sure the transaction for a multi-hundred to multi-thousand dollar deal?

Just sayin'...

Now that's something I could really do without knowing.

BTW, how much did those bass weigh?
JoeyA

Honestly JoeyA, I am not sure..

Now I hate to say this, but my wife caught a 12# and a 11.5# the following day......she cant fish with me anymore:grin:

Our pond was stocked and it has some nice sized fish in it now....nice crappy, bass, sunfish....HUGE catfish....my dad fed the catfish dogfoor for about 8yrs straight...when he would walk up and throw a handfull of food out for them, i am serious, it was like piranah....it was kewl to watch

There are many truly honest cue dealers here on AZ and I do not think that it is fair they should be brought into the overall statement that things are out of hand here at AZ. There are a some deals (that are mostly individual) that have and should receive bad press and that unfortunately gives everyone a bad name. Since the wanted for sale section was installed there have been well documented deals that went poorly because of several problems.(IMO) A lack of good communication, straight out deceit, poor description, are just a few issues, and there are also some cue flippers of somewhat dubious character for sure. But to say it is all bad is unfair to the reputable dealers and honest sellers here. It is the old story about bad news taveling faster than good news. I do not have to name the good dealers as most of us know who they are already.
Just my thoughts!

By and large most people on the forum are honest. It's a shame that a few bad apples can cause such concerns and distrust. I haven't had any mishaps here on the forum with any of the purchases I've made. Maybe I've just been lucky. If the sellers have a good I-trader history, I think it's safe to deal with them.

I totally agree Dan,

I think for the most part people on here will treat you fairly and with respect...some of the NITs....well, they are just NITs and you cant change that.

Every deal I have had has been good. I have done some deals with people that had very little, or even NO feedback...but the way I looked at it was, If I get screwd out of this 100-200....then its my fault. But I was willing to give them a chance, and it worked out. I personally wouldnt advise dealing with someone with little or NO feedback on a cue you cant afford to lose..If you are going to deal with them, at least PROTECT yourself...Id use ESCROW in that instance.....give them a chance to prove themselves

You just have to protect yourself when your dealing with people on here..

I still find it hard to believe that anyone would send money to an anonymous poster who has a deal that's too good to be true. If you don't use an escrow service when dealing with someone you don't know for a high ticket item, you shouldn't be surprised or upset when your money disappears and you have nothing to show for it.

There are so many reputable dealers online, there's just no need to hit the gray market. If it is for something that you can't find at a store, use a freaking escrow service for crying out loud! It protects you, it protects the seller and its easy.

tap...tap...tap....

Not hard to believe for me. Most people are interested in a steal, not a deal. Something they can resell. The scammers know this about our sport. So they sell something a few hundred UNDER a fair price. Greed takes over....

Part of the supply and demand of our system I guess.

People also complain about EBAY fees etc. PayPal fees. The reason there are fees is because it is a BUSINESS...and its INSURED.... If the extra $15 are not worth it to you to use paypal, then don't complain if you get taken. Its too easy these days to do things right and guarantee you get your money or your product.

what an insult!!!

you insult NITS by comparing them to the azzwholes that pull that kind of crap.

The "crap" isn't anything less than criminal thievery. Just because it's not done at gunpoint or with someone wearing a mask and climbing through an open window, doesn't make it any less violating.

I have been on this board for a few years and can say things have definetely changed. It's only been a few years where I have bought and sold really high ticketcues here, a few in the 20k range. It had been as simple as, send me a money order, and after I get it, I'd send out the cue. I would never buy a cue that way today, nor would I blame another who wouldn't buy that way either.

Granted, the only solution is escrow. You would have to be crazy to not take advantage of this extra security option. No way I'm dealing without it, unless I know you. By "know", I mean years of face to face interaction.

Ultimately, these changes have been unfortunate, but definitive of today's culture. Similarly, you wouldn't have a one night stand with a stranger, without protection, this is no different.

With that said, it has never happened to me here. It happened 10 years ago on eBay. I was fortunate then, as the FBI got involved in my case (not pool related) and arrested the perp. I would encourage anyone that gets ripped off to involve the authorities. I'd also include a sticky, naming the individuals involved in criminal investigations. The current itrader isn't concise in that area.
