so there is this one shot that always gets me....its like a 45 degree cut, every time it comes up i dogg it it seems, i have such a bad feeling everytime the damn shot comes up...........it was hill hill in a tournement recently ....my break, great spread, i start a run,,,,,,,,,,very possible run, one shot away from the eight ball, i shoot the shot , up and down the table......so much room to get anywhere for the leave, guess what nemisis shot.........i miss , he runs the remaining balls,
****!

1st work on position, 2nd dont miss anymore, 3rd if you know you will miss then play safe.

Set up the shot...

and then shoot it till you make it...
repeat the exercise, and repeat and repeat and repeat until you learn to love the shot. It will happen!
Been there, done that.

45deg.

Always line that shot up. Pick a spot on the object ball. Get down and stay down. Stroke that cue until you know your right and the object ball
screams ," Hit me now!" Don't hurry because you think that everybody thinks it is an easy shot. It's not. Stay down !!!

ok I've got one to. Straight in [or close to straight] and shooting off the rail. Its amazing how far I can miss that shot. over and over.

You're not alone and its probably because you're not hitting center ball and when you do that the cb will swerve a lot in the direction of the unintended english.

Try this;
Aim a straight in shot off the rail with 1 eye closed like shooting a rifle with your eye right over the cue. Then either shoot a couple that way first to see how it goes or open up the other eye and the shot will look wrong to you but shoot it slowly to see if the cb goes correctly, slowly because you don't want the unintentional last second subconscios stroke correction to come and make you steer it, then we'll never know if we were aimed right. Reduce your follow through at first also, just picture the tip going an inch or two beyond the cb and freezing it there.

Chances are you'll have to learn to look and fall into them differently but at least you'll be getting to know yourself better.

Unitended spin off the rail is a killa and if you can use spin when frozen effectively you're one step closer to being a killa yourself!

Both frozen?

Are you guys talking about both CB and OB frozen to the same rail? or the equally difficult CB frozen to the rail where only the top of CB is available and prone to unintended english swerve?/masse? while shooting a straight in shot?

Both/either is tough. Whatever Joe says works for me. If both are on the same rail I seem to slightly rub the rail first before hitting the OB and miss. Or if CB only frozen I often end up elevated too much to avoid 'rolling over" the CB and instead semi-masse and miss.

I got all these shots

I had a few shots that I was having problems with (now I have problems with them all) and I practiced the shot until I was comfortable enough with it that I could slam it in whenever needed. Ive spent many hours shooting a straight 5 foot shot in a corner pocket.

how does that happen?

Don't feel unique. I practice and practice shot that until I can't miss. I'm shooting lites out today, run a beautiful 8 balls, line up the 9 straight in the corner but the cueball rolls onto the rail. No sweat, Stroke it in (ho,ho) and miss by 3 inches. Back to practice.:frown:
