Hey, Jay! I think that Don's last name is actually spelled "McCaughey",but is phonetically pronounced as McCoy. Not that it matters much, other than for the sake of personal accuracy.

Just for the sake of trivia I wonder if anybody can say what kind of a cue those guys play or played with.

be cool too, if someone/everyone could possibly name the places/event these pics were taken and when

You're correct. I just could never spell that name. He pronounces it McCoy. So it's Don M. and Dave Yeager, the two "unknowns".

Best bet for that would be Kitto since he was there.

I"m pretty sure Mosconi played with a Hoppe.
Archer is Scorpion now but maybe a Schon back when that picture was taken.
Sigel, Varner, Fats and Mizerak all had their own lines of cues but not sure about when this picture was taken.
Buddy Hall has endorsed a couple different cues I think but no idea what he was playing with at that time.
Mark Wilson plays with a 60" cue, don't know what kind.
Efren used a cheap Filipino cue, then a Meucci, then Judd.
Bustamante last I heard used a Bear.
Kitto, Vanover, Carter, Massey, Hubbart, the Cowboy, Boston Shorty, Lebron no idea.

yeah, that would be best
so, we've determined from this thread that scott is alive and well somewhere in iowa, correct?????????????????????

What a great Varner quote. I never heard it before. I'll have to use it sometime. I'm always looking for a good excuse.

That is a cool quote. I bet it drew quite a few laughs for sure, especially after watching someone run a set on you..

I actually saw "Don M." and talked to him at the Olathe tournament a couple of weeks ago. He still hits em pretty sporty, even though his hair is is silver now, like mine! Well, I think I will take my whooping five (5) posts in the last 2 1/2 years, and officially revert back to "lurker" status. I need to go practice a little more law anyway! Ciao!

Looks like Don is playing with his old grey schon in that pic. Today he uses a custom a local guy made him.

Whatever stick he plays with, he still carries it in an old lizard skinned tube case that is either a Fellini or a George. Most likely the latter, if I had to render an educated guess.

trying to get some more old timer pics

i'm sure some of you fellas may know Ron Kohlman from cincy
he grew up working and playing at royal family billiards in oakley
i'm not positive but i think Joey Spaeth owned it, Gary was just a kid back then, mid 1960s

anyways, ron owned Hilltop Billiards in Mt, Healthy ,
which unfortunately closed up last year
the crime in that area and the no smoking ban pretty much put the last nail in the coffin for hilltop

ron had lots of old photos, framed, hanging on the walls there
i'll get in touch with him and see if i can get pics of those
one pic in particular stood out for me,
it's of Donny Anderson, had to be in his mid to late 20's & hot blonde that looked like marilyn monroe

Scott Kitto

Scott was a smart guy, taking pictures with all those guys. I was around all the players and rarely took any photos. My bad!
P.S. That's Jimmy Moore and Boston Shorty in the last photo. Believe it or not I can name every player pictured here.
I did name everyone in my head as I looked at them. He's definitely in pictures with some real great pool history. He was very young when he had heart problems. I remember seeing him after he had recovered and his hair had turned stark white.
