Attending the US Open: QMasters or Open?

I'll be scrambling up I95 Wednesday to the Open again. It's interesting how attendees spend their time there. Some are rarely at the Open, instead spending their time sweating at QMasters into the wee hours of every night, and sawing logs much of the daylight hours.

I like to see the $$ matches at Q Masters AND the big boys at the Conference Center. It's a tough balance, and unfortunately these venues are @ a half hour away. I want to cell divide!

How do you spend your time there?

The usual routine for most is to catch some tourney action duyring the day/evening, then head over to Qmasters around 11PM-ish. The Q is open 24/7 and a lot of action happens late.

Eric >will be there

Sleep doesn't seem to be an option here. Play (tournament) stops at midnight and the action starts last through the night. If you don't need sleep, you can do both. The drive is 7.8 miles from venue to q-master.

I've been to Q-Masters and Chesapeake Conference Center many times, and I still get lost. It's the strangest route to go to Q-Masters from the tournament venue. It's like you got to go north on one road, south on another road, and then left, right, left, right. Sheesh!

You will adore the U.S. Open, the whole atmosphere, but, if you like action, Q-Masters is the place to be.

LOL! Once you get there, then you have to figure out how to get back. :grin-square:

That's what I'm talking about, north, south, left, right. It's very confusing.:o

My good friend and I go to the Open every year and we like to go to Q-Masters in between matches. We check the board and see who's playing and if we don't see a good match up during the day we hit Q-masters for a couple of hours and then back to the Open. It's a blast watching the tournament, playing a little, and then seeing the $$ matches at Q-masters late at night.

I dont know why you think the big boys aren't over at Qmasters. Shane played Kiamco last night race to 17 ten ball. Warren played great pool and because he played so well he got every roll when he needed it. Shane played super Warren just beat him to 17. I wish they were racing to 50. It was good pool.

I hear Bam Bam might be doing something tonight. We will see.

LOL, it would be funny to see you and Fatboy on a road trip together. It took him about 3.5 hours to get to QMasters from airport last year:grin-square:

In the past I have spent the bulk of my time at the Open and some at Q-Master's...but this year I plan to do the reverse. The action is incredible to me...and while I would love to watch a world champion place one race to 11 with another world champion...I would prefer to watch the same players bet thousands at 3:00 am...:)

I am not criticizing the Open by ANY means...I love this event...and it is responsible for generating this much action just by having these world-beaters congregate here once a year. But the surge of adrenaline one gets by watching the "action" is something else!

I was at Q-Master's last night until 6:45 a.m. and woke up at 3:00 p.m.
It is now 5:15 p.m. and I have yet to set foot in the conference center, but fully intend to be at Q-Masters all night again.

Am I missing some great matches? Sure I am!
But it is a small trade-off for me, at least in the earlier rounds.

I believe that you missed step 7a, whereby you get lost and ask for directions :)

2. make left, go .5 miles and exit onto Rt 64 N.
3. go a few miles to Rt 264E, Virginia Bch exit
4. go about .5 miles on 264 and take Newtown Rd exit
5. go .25 miles and make lefft onto Princess Anne
6. go .5 miles and find Qmasters in a shopping ctr, on the left

7. tear up those ridiculous MApquest instructions and throw over left shoulder
8. youre a dumbass if you get lost now (kidding)

Eric >ok, not kidding
