Joel is no longer making cues he has sold all of his equipment and all of his lumber as well

I had a Weinstock , flat laminated shaft and it played great, it's a shame he isn't in the buisness anymore !!!<<ED
I know joel better than anyone we are best of friends, he has been doing all of eddie farris's inlay work, and its some of the best you seen, if you want a shaft Ill talk to him and I can't guarantee but its possible that he might can build a shaft for you, but no new cues as of late....but before I'm done thats going to change also. Give me some time and Ill get with him and see what I can do for you.

Just spoke with joel, and heres the deal, he is having some health issues as of late which is why there is no work being done. So no shafts as of now. If you have some inlay work you want done then that could defieately be possible as he has been doing them for Eddie. Eddie learned from Joel and basically has the same taper, not to mention he bought all of joels old wood. So my advice is if you want a shaft then go to Eddie Farris if you can't wait on Joel
And as for selling his equiment yea he sold it to Ken Ken quarters up at cue spot a good friend of both of us, but he still has the BADDEST AXIS INLAY Machine around the midwest except for maybe Prather...if you need inlays Joel is the MAN and sharp inlays too, oh and I forgot to mention he built it himself and has 48" of travel...makes the cuemonster lool like a kids toy.

Just to make everyone feel better, maybe you can man up and post something about yourself, while you are reading about me.
In fact, you can ask Eddie Farris about me since you appear to be such good friends with him. He and I are quite familiar with each other.
I wouldn't be telling people to bypass Pete. To announce publicly that Pete's work can't match the work of Joel or Eddie is your opinion for one, and second, it simply ain't the truth, my man. You are out of line for saying that.
If what you said is a fact, why do most people who buy a custom cue locally buy one from Pete Petree and not Eddie Farris?

Considering Joel and you being friends is understandable how you would love to drum up business for him but saying something about other cue makers quality being lower than Joels.....well I think I've said my peace. I do not have any experience with the above stated cuemakers either, it's jmho. Good luck to the OP on finding a shaft.
most are going to go with Pete because he makes more cues and quicker too, and like I said he makes a beautiful cue and was not meaning to downgrade pete, he was a friend also, I just find his cues to be too soft hitting for my likeing, but your not going to find someone with a better finish. I think eddie and joel both make a better shaft, it was not a knock on pete at all, just a personal preference, they don't play better but if you looking for the stiff SW style then you go with joel or eddie, thats what i mean in playing better than petes....its just personal preference. Didn't mean that petes cues dont play good, just should have explained myself better. IF you go with pete he probably would suit you up real quick, with eddie or joel its gonna be a wait. SO please don't think I was knocking petes work, great inlays and one of the best finishes in the business. Ask around who makes the better shaft...and dont think I don't know Jim or Laura or Michelle(I DJ'd Michelles 21st birthday party!), John Chen,Brian Jones, Fish, Biggie, 2dollar Mike, Jessie Copin, Andy Freedhoffman, Eggie, Asiam Mark, Asian Joe etc etc..... or anyone else in tulsa...i ain't no fly by night, I know all of them... was friends with John Lepartice....I know tulsa so don't act like I dont. I might be from louisiana but I'm a tulsan at heart and you can take that to the bank.

You guys took me out of context never meant to knock pete, last time i saw I saw pete we shook hands, and he's even done some work on my own cues. like I said I wasn't knocking petes work at all.
The fact was that the guy was looking for a weinstock shaft, if you want that the closest is going to come from eddie, not pete end of story. It is about preference so if you prefer a weinstock shaft then pete would not be the answer, its just preference.
Some like scruggs and hate south west...its just preference not a knock to their work.
And yea I know who you are brother, if you don't know me then you must be new....i was stomping at the old palace, and hitting balls with scott, mike and jay (bless their souls) every day at lunch. But as I said if you want a weinstock shaft go with eddie, b/c pete doesn't make that kind of shaft which directly affects the hit of the cue, you took me out of context but maybe I sould have worded differient. All I was trying to say was if you want a weinstock shaft your not going to get the same type of playability from a petree wether its better or worse, petes cues play nothing like a weinstock or a farris, pete has his own style. I apologize for sounding likek pete can't make a cue for s**t because thats not true.

I don't want to beat a dead horse but I don't want people spreading around something that aint true, my whole point was that if your looking for a weinstock style cue/shaft, then pete is not the answer...he has his own style. As I said I know pete and he got me out of a bind in the midwest tourney by fixing my broken ferrule for a great price wen he had his shop in the palace. The guy asked for a weinstock shaft, and he cant get one, so he should go to eddie as eddies cues are similar to the hit and so are the shafts...hell he bought all Joels wood for christs sake. If someone asks for a Scruggs shaft Im not going to tell them to go get a south west shaft, you steer someone to the closest product to what they want. Pete has a differient taperand a differient hit to his cues so maybe you understand now what I was trying to say about the matter. Its just comparing apples to oranges my friend and thats all

It is apparent that you're not going to get an authentic Weinstock shaft, at least not anytime soon. Eddie's tapering machine is an old lathe and has only one setup. It is also similar to Joel's taper, but it is still not the same thing. Eddie Farris will charge a great deal more than Pete Petree, and take two to three times longer. His asking price for a sneaky pete is $500. His shafts are $200.
Pete has the ability to mic a shaft, create any taper you want, get it done promptly, and charge an astonishingly lower price. This, my friend, is a considerable fact that is difficult to overlook.

your right, glad we could get on the same page, hope to meet ya when I go up again soon to visit like i always do, maybe soon around thanksgiving, but definately for the one hole tournament.

Don't sweat my man. I do know you, just not as grey ghost. I totally avoid hanging around the hustlers for very good reasons. Duane Remick is one of the only top players I will associate with. The rest of em are no good, no life havin sons o *****es.
I admire the way you credit Joel and his CNC abilities. That is the one and only thing that you deserve +1 for.

Thats the same reason i got out of that group and got to work in the oilfeild, thers no future to all that mess. And I know Duane also, and hes a stand out guy. I really miss Joe Simpson, he's a hell of a fella and has helped me out much and would do anyting for him, as I would have for Scott, Jay or Mike.
I will say this, all those hustlers are what makes tulsa pool what it is...without them there would be nothing...its not like the players are sitting around screwing everyone out of everything....they just trying to get in the box...they are all comrades in the TULSA ARMY, I for one was proud to be one of them, and be respected by many of them...ill always appreciate my years ther, but they haven't seen the last of me...for I will be back with an engineering degree in hand...to change pool and the world as I know it.
