Earl and Meucci again..

Earl could run out with any stick, but what a great thing (except for his opponents) if his confidence gets back to form.

Anybody that really knows Earl understands him..Earl and I were together 15 years total of his career and he still amazed me on the pool table.Hes very funny and talented. He takes what he does so seriously and has dedicated his LIFE to what he does.Earl started out winning tournaments and when you do not perform at the level you know or expect of yourself it changes you and everything bothers you. When Earl and I would go to tournaments I knew he would win by the first match just by his confidence in himself. He always called it the triple D's Desire Dedication and Determination...

Guess I let the cat so to speak out of the bag..You guys are the first to know this information...

A lot of us on here are Fan's of Earl, and think he is probably the most pure shooter on the planet. But some of us wonder about all the gadgets he wears, the weights, arm pads and such. Does he have some medical reasons to wear them or is it an alignment thing. Does he do any physical training to stay in shape? Just wondering, most all of us would love to see Earl back on top.

Its back....

Hi, Elizabeth. Don't be a stranger to the forum. We haven't heard from you in a while! :)

Glad to hear Earl is happy and doing well. He will always be one of my favorite pool people. Aside from him being a great player, I just like him for who he is. I cannot think of anyone who has as much passion about pool as Earl Strickland. I'm glad he's still got it!

When you see him, be sure to tell him that Keith and I said hi.

Earl

The below story really helped me alot a few times . Sure hope things get
better for Earl he is a great guy .I had the opportunity to take a lesson from
Earl with another friend of mine .Also the times I have had a live stream going
with Earl in the spot light the viewers more than doubled.Glad to hear Earl is
doing well ,seems at times he just doesn't get the credit he has more than
earned .

The World Is A Puzzle
There was a man who had a little boy that he loved very much. Everyday after work the man would come home and play with the little boy. He would always spend all of his extra time playing with the little boy.

One night, while the man was at work, he realized that he had extra work to do for the evening, and that he wouldn't be able to play with his little boy. But, he wanted to be able to give the boy something to keep him busy. So, looking around his office, he saw a magazine with a large map of the world on the cover. He got an idea. He removed the map, and then patiently tore it up into small pieces. Then he put all the pieces in his coat pocket.

When he got home, the little boy came running to him and was ready to play. The man explained that he had extra work to do and couldn't play just now, but he led the little boy into the dining room, and taking out all the pieces of the map, he spread them on the table. He explained that it was a map of the world, and that by the time he could put it back together, his extra work would be finished, and they could both play. Surely this would keep the child busy for hours, he thought.

About half an hour later the boy came to the man and said, "Okay, it's finished. Can we play now.?"

The man was surprised, saying, "That's impossible. Let's go see." And sure enough, there was the picture of the world, all put together, every piece in it's place.

The man said, "That's amazing ! How did you do that ?" The boy said, "It was simple. On the back of the page was a picture of a man. When I put the man together the whole world fell into place."

Earl and Bob Meucci are going to be working on getting Earl back in good health which has been bad until recently .The gadgets he has worn I didnt understand myself as he never wore anything like that before when he had his A game.I believe that he was trying anything and everything and it came down to piece of mind and focusing on the job at hand and thats winning. What people dont understand is he has been in the hospital several times with Kidney problems and when you are at a tournament and in terrible pain and your doing your best just to get through the day its a difficult thing. He however looks good has a positive outlook and it will overcome anything that has been hindering him and his game..I look forward to it.

Thank You its good to be back and i will pass the message to Earl.
He is leaving for Memphis on Monday whereas he will now be living. He will be with the Meucci camp hands on hands so to speak where he can do his practicing and right at the Meucci plant....

No this was simply a business move.Earl worked w/Bob Meucci for many years and won so many titles.I believe this will also bring his confidence back and his stroke..

The taper that Gulassy was making for him reminded me of the Muecci taper from back in the day....
My 1st cue was the Muecci Captain hook...I was playing lights out with it one night busted the whole place then sold it because i got greedy.... I'M A FREAKIN IDIOT!!

Of course i was just a kid with no guidance of any kind....

This is very cool news!. I met Earl at Starchers Billiards in Ohio back in the day. He was very nice and hit some balls with the Black Boar I had at the time. It's nice to see Earl still wanting to play great and win!

Lisa, check out the pic next to my name.....how old was Earl then?

thanx,

thanx,

I first met Earl at Starchers about 83 or 84 when Earl was living in Richmond KY and Monroe Brock was staking him. He hit some balls with a Szamboti I had but prefered his Meucci! He told me he liked to feel it go "BOING" when he broke the balls. LOL We became friends and kinda hung in the same croud for several years. I remember when he met you Lisa, or at least the time period! He was like a puppy and didn't come out and party with all of us. LOL PW we called it at the time! LOL All kidding aside I know you were a steadying influence on Earl and kept him from losing his cool during that time period. I'm glad that you've remained a close friend after splitting.

I was at the Open and was really pulling for Earl. He started out looking like the Earl of old! I wish he could have held it all together and pulled off a 6TH US Open Victory. Maybe next year using his Meucci!

Tell Earl that Sherm said "HI" and I'm hoping he can get his confidence back.

just more hot air!

OH, BTW my avitar is an old pic from the Classic Cup at the Pheasant Run Resort, outside of Chicago. Circa 1986 ???
