Anyone have any photos of the Meucci that Earl used to play with?

I for one started playing around 88 and my first cue was a Meucci. That was when Meucci was "the" cue to own. My father had an "original" with two shafts (I have it now - don't play with it, but treasure it) and he purchased me a Meucci Sneaky Pete when he saw I was getting serious about the game. I still have that cue as well.

I remember wanting a high-end Meucci in those days but couldn't afford one as a kid. As an adult...I haven't wanted any of the new high end (for Meucci) Meucci cues.

I AM quite excited about Meucci producing a line for Earl Strickland. My hope is that they look to their old school line of cues for design ideas. My hope is that they use quality woods/materials/etc for the cue. My hope is that the cues are 'QC'd appropriately. If the design looks cool - I will without a doubt purchase an Earl Strickland Model MEUCCI.

Anyone else excited about the possibilities of a Meucci/Strickland team-up for a new cue-line? I realize I'm just being sentimental/nostalgic, but what the heck.

I am just hearing about this and it sounds very cool, never had a Meucci that I played with but Earl certainly might bring the Meucci name back to the masses and create some sales.

My first high end cue purchase was from Mr. Olhausen in 1980 ish. A beautiful Meucci which I traded about two years later. I also have an old sneaky and an Oldie One Original two shafts. My wife uses it as her player. The old Meucci was and is a fine cue. I now prefer a less whippy shaft, but man in my opinion, that set up gave the ability for maximum english. For grins I'll do some stroke shots on 860. Gotta be 3600 rpm, lol. If Meucci does that, I'll buy one also.

this sounds awsome. As my first high end cue was a Meucci PP4 with 2 blackdot shafts and a I have a 314 shaft as well.

If Strickland can bring Meucci back I might be able to sell this thing.
(Hint) If any1 wants a Meucci PP4 drop me a line.

I find it funny whenever someone says high end cue and Meucci in the same breath.

LOL

You are some kind of MAROON. At that time in my life it was high end...You must live high on a pedestal and think that you are a know it all demi god by your moronic replies at times...

That's all...

A very very very long time ago they were good cues, the current ones are nothing like the old ones.

definately right, back then McDermott and VIking were just coming around, and you had huebler, by then palmer and adams were both imported cues. Meucci was at one time one of the best production/customs of their time. They got really popular and then quality went down, I bet that Meucci was the best selling cue for almost 20yrs? Only untill the last ten years or so have I begun to see McDermott and Viking and others as much. 20yrs ago everyone had meucci, or at least everyone that had a "real good cue".

And really on an old slow thick felted bar box, who don't like running out on those tables with an old meucci orig. They could and would put junk in the trunk on the CB lol....

Bob just build one with a DeLorian inlayed in it call it the blast from the past

Love him (I do) or hate him. Only Earl gets this much attention. The man could change toilet paper brands and we would start 12 never ending threads.

2 Ply, 3 Ply, Quilted...it would never stop.

If Earl goes on to win a major with his new cue, Travis T. will have a stroke.

My meaning of high-end in that statement was $500+ cue. Of course Custom Cues are the epitome of high-end.

I played with a Meucci back in the 70s. Not because it was a great cue, but because it was the best that you could get for the least amount of money.

They produced their version of the "High End" cue for a while and asked a "pretty penny" for it; however, i never saw a Meucci that I would have paid more than a couple of hundred dollars for.

I split the ferrels on 4 different Meucci shafts before I took the hint and invested the money to move up to a McDermott, which, in my opinion always was a considerable step above Meucci. You could beat on a McDermott ferrel all day with a hammer and couldn't break it.\

There are many different cue manufacturers who provide better quality workmanship and playability than Meucci and even Mcdermott if you are willing and able to pay for quality.

I personally own 2 Pechauers, 1 Predator, 1 Annie-O (Plus 2 others that were stolen), 1 McDermott, 1 David Barber, 1 old Schon (D-4) and 3 Jerry Oliviers. (Notice: No Meuccis in my collection).

I cary the Oliviers with me wherever I go since his cues are my weapon of choice and, in my opinion are the best playing cues that I have ever touched.

Just my humble opinion...........

When I was at the Open 2 weeks ago, Bob Meucci was there hanging out with the guys at the Brianna Booth. He had some new Meucci's with him and I saw Earl hitting some balls with one on a practice table and was very complimentary about them.

The next day after Earl had lost to Charlie Williams, I saw him talking to some of his CSI compatriots and he was holding a Meucci. I didn't see the match with Williams so I am not sure if he played the match with it or not.
