Does anyone on the board own this cue and is it for sale? This might be the nicest Joss I've seen...Anybody got one similar?

I knew a guy years ago who had one very similar. Prong colors were different and it had an ivory joint, but it was the exact same design as this one. I've seen two like this, his and one other. Not this one, though. Sorry.

here is an old joss like that one

Here is mine! I a have been so turned off by cue design theft that I have not posted this one until now! Hope you guys like it!

Thats a nice Joss. Was this made prior to Bill Stroud parting ways with Dan Janes?

As I understand it, this is a post Stroud Joss (Danny Janes cue). The "J" is block print rather than itallic. Years ago, when I mistakenly listed a Dan Janes Joss as a Stroud/Janes cue, Bill identified this method to tell them apart.

Here is an example of the slightly angled "J" in the Joss name of a different cue.

I have seen your cue for sale at billiardcue.com Dick Abbott had it or one similar for sale at one time. Gorgeous Joss!

There was no "series" when mine was made. Joss Cues LTD was not in existence at that time, they were not mass producing cues then. Dan hand built mine after talking to me on the phone about it.

What year was that?

What year was that?

Sorry, I've tried to remember. I'm guessing '76-'78. I started playing seriously in 1975 so it would have been within a year or two of then I think. I don't think it was 1978 but I'm not sure, it's been too long.
I know it was after Tim Scruggs left and according to the Blue Book, which I just looked at, he left in '78. Tim told me the cue was made after he left.
I've only bought two cues, both Meuccis, out of a catalog or brochure. I've only bought two custom cues from individuals. All the other customs I've owned, including the Joss, Tim Scruggs, two Southwests, and a Murray Tucker were all bought direct from the cue maker.
