Good for pool...bla bla bla...Bad for pool...bla bla bla. No wonder pool has a bad name bla bla bla bla bla.

Give it a rest.

Pool has got a bad name for some but not for me John. I play for the game and myself. Do I want more for the game and sport..... no doubt, but when it comes down to it it is me against the Diamond. This game has been around for hundreds and hundreds of years and will go on long after we are gone:(. I agree with you, in some ways we are like fleas arguing over who owns the dog. Peace.

The AZB constituency has a huge vested interest in the general well-being and continuing evolution of our sport. That's why most of us are continually dwelling on what's good and bad for the sport.

Deal with it.

I agree. Pool will take care of itself

By the way, the way things are going right now generally speaking we need John Galt. Atlas is just about to shrug.:(

It is quite surprising how good and bad seem to intersect with people's opinions. People complain about how the Mosconi Cup voting went, but still want new ideas in pool. They complain about Charlie Williams and how bad he is for pool even though he is promoting events and putting money in players pockets.

It is about time to come to the realization that it will never be a perfect world, or sport and we should be happy that the positive things happening in pool far outweigh the bad.

A tournament run by anyone that pays out on time is a good thing regardless of who is promoting it. Something new like a fan vote in pool is a good thing even with the flaws.

If pool does actually get huge you will see this as the good ol' days. We are in a sport where the pros are often at an arms length and have no problems having a drink with you, giving you pointers and just shooting the breeze. How many can say that about any of the other professional sports?

While I agree with your notion that we should be grateful for and celebrate everthing good in our sport, the truth is that this forum consists of people who are passionate about pool to the nth degree.

To suggest that we become satisfied is, in my view, inappropriate. This forum consists of many movers and shakers in our sport who are doing their part to help our sport evolve into a better future. Some of those who aren't doing something to help our sport will do so at some point in the future.

Asking the members of this forum to sit back and just be thankful for what they have without continually passing judgment on what does and doesn't serve the present and future of our sport is the same as asking a parent to stop dwelling on the future of their child. We here at AZB love pool the way a parent loves a child, and will, consequently, oversee, assess, and guide it with a similar amount of passion.

I'll go the opposite route of this thread. I personally encourage and ask my fellow forum members to continue dwelling on what's good about, bad about, good for, and bad for pool, because as long as we keep the dialogue going, we will remain informed and will be better positioned to help pave the way for better times in our sport.
