That is bull shit, Oscar hits the break hard and they bunch up and Meeka gets an easy out. 1-1 Meeka breaking.

Yeah, OzzieMan put a good hit on that break and got punished for it. That's not fair.

I like the idea of the break speed governing whether a break is good or not. I'm thinking minimum speed of 15 mph. It would make the production better as well with the commentators able to announce the speed of the break.

Is it me, or is Mika just saying "Damn the Torpedoes" and shooting for less than the % play?

I know he's not feeling well, but he seems to be playing....

a) loose
b) careless
c) desperate

KK9 <-- thinks Mika wishes he was home in bed, 'cause he looks tired and whipped after a phenomenal year

My guess is that he can't afford all this pressure right now and doesn't know how to handle it.

Ive got a radar gun at home 15mph is close to soft break speed it would have to be closer to 20mph. 20 would guarantee no soft break but 18 or 19 would be a better choice for a rule.

Seeing Rodney there, how pumped up would a duo of Hatch and Morris be in a doubles match? That would be a cool thing to see.

JoeyA:

Unfortunately this would be "yet another hack" to keep 9-ball on life support. First it was breaking from the box, then it was racking the balls with the 9 (instead of the 1-ball headball) over the foot spot, then it was "x" number of balls need to pass the headstring. Now we're wanting to add speed guns as a required piece of equipment for 9-ball matches?

We need to switch to 10-ball, plain and simple. You try and soft-break that triangular 10-ball rack, and you suffer the consequences! (In other words, it behooves one to break hard -- the attraction to break hard is built-in.)

Just my $0.02,
-Sean

Good point Sean, I agree.

They already fixed the whole break prablem, they created 10-ball.

10 Ball may be the game of choice for the professional players because it is more difficult (I'm still not sure that it is the general consensus of opinion amongst them), but I think the professional players should realize that 9 BALL may be in THEIR best interest to support because that is what TELEVISION seems to prefer. If the players are ever going to make decent money consistently, it is TELEVISION advertising that will make it happen.

I think Oscar would have done well in a High Jump competition. I have never seen someone with a followthrough on the break like that. Really cool actually

I actually like the idea of a speed gun with a minimum break speed for big events like this. This would mean you wouldn't have to worry about x balls reaching a rail, or x balls going over the head string, wierd rackings or any other BS and it would enforce the spirit of what they are trying to do with this three ball rule.

How many breaks have we seen here, where a player has made a good, hard break but because of funny bounces or side pocket nipples they have had a break foul? It just doesn't seem fair when this happens.
