> I have to relate an interesting story about an incident I found myself in last night.

I wasn't even looking for action, just wanted to hit a few balls, and the only places open were the bars. I sit and wait for the couple playing each other, and a couple other women. I put quarters up and play a guy I know fairly well, and we play a few cheap games, basically dealing with a customer.

This guy I had seen around puts his quarters up,and be damned if he doesn't ask me to play for 20. I said sure. With him being semi-familiar,asking him to post on a 20 dollar game never crosses my mind.

He wins,I pay.

2nd game he wins,I pay again.

He suggests playing for 40,I oblige. He breaks and scratches,I run out.

He politely tells me he's going out to the car after cigs, and it never crossed my mind to follow him or watch his travel path, until I step outside 2-3 minutes later to answer a call.

There isn't a car with him in it in sight.

I go back in,and he's nowhere to be found, and got 40 bucks of my money in his pocket. I'm embarrassed I let this happen without even questioning it,and starting to get a little pissed.

I leave that bar and go to 2 others looking for the guy.

On my 3rd stop, there were only a few people in there,so I told them what happened and described him.

I'm turn the corner to walk out,and he comes thru the door.

I ask him what the deal was,and he swung on me. I dodge the punch, and it got broke up before things got nasty. As we were being seperated,I make good eye contact with him,and my whole mood changed as soon as I did.

This guy,who seemed calm and polite earlier,is now BLASTED out of his mind on meth (very small, fixed pupils) and pissed off that I had the sack to follow him all over town expecting to be paid.

I honestly got caught slippin' here,no doubt.

I'm not worried in the slightest about him winning money from me. If we play long enough,I win just as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow.

I'm disappointed with myself for not seeing the move coming, and underestimating a stranger's character. Not only did I not ask him to pay me before he went outside, thinking he was solid, but I sure as HELL wasn't expecting to find a crazed junkie when I ran into him again.

What I'm confused about is,why did I go looking for the guy? I wasn't pissed off enough to be irrational, wasn't drunk or high myself, and had no real game plan other than hoping to run into him and spread the word so he doesn't get someone else. Tommy D.

Nobody likes getting it broke off in ya. That was such a blatant theft, I think the majority of people would go looking around for this local.

I hope you get your cash back sooner or later. Regardless, the pool scene will know what a thief this guy is, and a meth head too if you care to spread it.

Wasn't meth.....meth will make your pupils look like dinner plates, as it dilates your eyes.

Pain killers (Opiates) constrict your pupils.

It is hard to figure what makes a person stand up when they will be sure to fade similar situations. Not long ago I witnessed to younger guys run a stop sign, they went through it at about 25 miles an hour. I turned my truck around and followed them to there house and had words with them. I must have looked mad because the yes sirs and sorry sirs were flying. I normally ignore such a situation but a few times a year I have been known to go after people who desperately need to be educated.

That's dangerous these days...

Around some parts of the country, they'll whip out a tec 9, or a AK47 and wreak havoc.

It happens to the police.....

you never know.

Thanks for the concern:). There were a couple of kids (under 7) standing on the shoulder and these to goons live in this neighborhood so it wasn't like it was a mistake. They also were laughing as they were fishtailing around the corner. You are right not a good idea most of the time.

> Word around the campfire is this guy ran afoul of some other people that night as well as the next. Friday night, after our incident he went to the only bar in town I didn't go to that night and stole one of the waitresses tip jars and bolted out the door. Cops were called and a report filed.

Another person at the same campfire told me (and confirmed by a few others) that he went to the same bar where he pulled his stunt with me,tried it again, and got caught at it. He was dragged outside and rendered unconscious for almost 15 min.

Karma's a ***** sometimes. Tommy D.
