Just noticed David Grau has played in almost twenty AZ recorded tournaments this year and has won over $14 grand this year.

He also beat some pretty sporty players at the Turning Stone recently.

I think I have seen his face before but I didn't know he could play at that level.

Does anyone know where he is from?

Know Dave very well. Have seen him progress from a very ordinary player to a potential world beater. Works at his game as hard as any player I know. Lived in and around Rochester for years.

Have to give him some credit for the recent jump in my game. In one word, he refined my game. Patience! Those who have seen him play will understand.

Underestimate him at your risk!

Grau is originally from the Cortland New York area. Which is my home town too...

He can play... Has been to the hill against many of the top players. Mika, Archer, and countless others.

He will be a real player next year for sure! He has the drive and motivation to be the best, and I know he will be on top in the comming years!

I ran into him at the BCA this year. I won $500 staking my buddy against him. Then I ended up playing him 8-ball for $50/game. We traded games for about 2 hours. When I was down two games I scratched on the break and watched him run that table and then 7 more. I figured 10 games down was a nice round number to pull up! I stumbled across him on AZbilliards somewhere, and apparently he double dipped Dennis Hatch to win a Joss event. So, ya, he can shoot ;)

Aside from being a very methodical player he was a really nice guy too. Whether he won or lost he was a gentleman. I'm glad to see him doing well in some pro events.

Dave's a great young player. He and I had a few great matches this past year. He's the tpye of player that's easy to under rate. You have to play him to appreciate his talent.

lets see if I can remember any big names he's beaten.

Marlon Manolo at Turning Stone Summer 2006 Tournament, after Manalo won 99K from IPT.
Johnny Archer at Turning Stone Summer 2008 Tournament, then proceeded to play against Shane Van Boening.
David Alcaide at 2009 US Open.
Rob Saez also at the 2009 US Open.

At this past turning stone event: he beat
John Schmidt, ran a 6 pack on him to finish the match.
Stevie Moore, revenge for the double dipping at the NYC Championships.

Went to the Hill with Rodney Morris at this past Turning Stone but scratched on the final break.

Hes a regular on the Joss Tour.

I know you will Chris ! But don't look in Syracuse for a good table. There isn't any ! Not one diamond in the whole damn town. And all the Brunswick are run down with sets of balls that have no chance of racking due to the many sizes. Like I said in another thread pool in Syracuse sucks at best. That goes for the equipment mainly but not many good players either.

i think finding someone to back him will be the problem.
