I think its time for a movie of a pool players life story such as Keith McCready, Buddy Hall, Earl, or other to hit the big screen.

I am not talkin about a pool movie with a bs story but a human interest story of a pool players life (which of course will contain some exciting pool scenes) that is also entertaining.

If you check out wikepedia of Keith Earthquake McCready and his life you will see what I mean I can't see a better movie script.

With the pitifull crap thats being put out by the movie industry today why not pick from the many true life stories that are there for the picking.

Come on JAM get Keith up and moving, hollywoods got all the money and needs a story.

They have more than one check and your chances making real money is better than playing pool.

If its Earl I would call it From Here to Insanity. Just kidding Earl :)

Which pool players life story do you thing would make the best movie and what would be the movie title be?

Keith McCready for gets my vote for either a movie or a book. Preferrably both. I don't know why the hell he hasn't written a book about his journey through the pool world. I've You Tubed and wikied him many times to see if there was any new information on him or old stories I haven't heard about...urban legend etc.

I have the well known tape of him and Harry Platis playing Ronnie Allen where RA has to shoot one handed every other turn at the table...it's crazy. That right there is a hella of a story based on fact that would make for an entertaining read or trip to the theatre and it's just one of many. And the match against Parica at the US Open was hiliarious....I still want to know what the "Dipsey-do" is. He caught fire in that match and drilled some unbelievable shots in that match. Keith is and always will be one of pools most colorful characters. I remember reading here on AZ that he would get some residual for the Color of Money. I would think a book about his pool exploits might also help him him..hell he's earned it.

Find a good writer and have him go around and take people accounts who where there and experienced Keith at the pool table. I'm sure there are tons of stories that people remember about Keith that he has already forgotten about...

I would also like to see McGoorty done into a film if done right. That was a crazy era no doubt...but I do recall Freddy 'The Beard' saying alot of it was BS so who knows...but it was funny as #$%*.

Danny D might be another interesting one being that he started up a boxing and busted his hands on peoples faces and then entered into the pool world. That would make for another good movie as that was also an interesting era with Johnston City and all the great players it attracted during those years.

As far as a name...I don't know...something simple...maybe just "The Earthquake"...

The question is who is going to play Keith in the movie? Mickey Rourke? LOL!

I think a story about Archie "the Greek" Caras would make one hell of a movie. Although it wouldn't be all pool based. Especially with the big poker boom of today.

There have to be a lot of great pool stories that could be told. Keith's would definitely be at the top of the list.

I agree about McGoorty. His life WAS like a movie script. One small problem: he was primarily a 3C player, but his antics were fascinating, and of course a tragic ending is always compelling for Hollywood.

Speaking of tragedies, another compelling story would be Harold Worst's life and career. Also Ralph Greenleaf.

Keith's story would also make an excellent movie. But hopefully there will be plenty more yet to add to his biography!!

I thinks you could also have a movie about two or more players. "A changing of the guard" type movie. The story of Efren would be great.

Here are a few suggested titles:

The Legend: Cesar Morales
The Filipino Kid
Beta and the Balls
The Magician (a little misleading to the public)
The Player from Angeles City

There's always that movie about Basavich that been in the works forever. C'mon Lions Gate, get a **** move on, will ya?

Anyone seen the 2003 Filipino movie "Pakners"?
If so, where can you get a copy?

It's time for a good pool story. My suggestion would be the Pearl. Having listen personally to some of his explots I know it would be a winner. The thing is though Earl has no interest in this pursuit, WTF?, it could be the ticket to getting him out of the pool hell he's in currently. Five times US Open winner, Six times World 10 Ball Open winner, Mosconi stallworth, until this yr, he might have the most titles of them all. What a tragic story, doesn't Hollywood love a tragedy?

we need a chick

how about Robbin Dodson? (apologies for spelling)Her life story is truly compelling. She grew up with the bunch from L.A., including McCready.

IMO a blockbuster pool movie would have to have a lot of fiction in it for the general public to see it and like it. I don't think the "Hustler" would be as big today as it was in the 1960's. Something like the COM would sell with two big stars in it I believe. The one thing the Hustler and the COM had that all the others didn't was super star actors. Johnnyt

I say we make a movie about Johnnyt. :)

Maybe a TV series. Will the cops catch Johnny this week? LOL. Been very lucky all my life staying one step ahead of them. Of course a good mouth-piece is a must. Never did any time. Just overnight stuff. I always worked alone or jusk took a % of the take...but didn't go on the job. Of course this was before computers linking police departments and DNA. Johnnyt

If you made a movie about me, it would probably be a cartoon.

So which stereotypes would the characters have to play.

The last few pool movies had great scores.

How can you feel good when the only opportunity for money is through playing a game?

Doc,
Remember when he had to "rent a dad" to get in the pool room? Hilarious but sad at the same time. He was so deadpan about it all.

Have you ever seen the Mountain Man AJ Clemens?

How can you feel good when the only opportunity for money is through playing a game?

Now, that would be an entertaining movie.

The critter. or the adventures of AJ Clemens. By Mark Twain.
