AZ ranks players, thousands of us (check out the Player Finder).
What criteria are used? Is it just $ won in tourneys?
In my area of the country, Seattle, the rankings do not reflect reality.
Maybe some better money players are flying under the radar, avoiding tourneys and their public record. Some very solid semi-pro players are not even listed.
So who are the top 10 players where you live???

Knock, knock. There are multiple threads fairly similar to this already. You may search my previously started threads from long ago and see "Best Player by State"

It's only his 7th post. I think we can cut him some slack this time! ;)

Welcome to the forum!

I deliberately left one blank for that very reason. Honestly, I've never seen Oscar Bonilla play so I couldn't say anything about his game. It's my perspective and I'll be first to admit, it's somewhat limited.

EDIT: and Evan Broxmeyer does not play in New York City so he was automatically excluded.

I'm from Wisconsin. Since Larry Nevel left we have nothing. Well, Jeff Carter I guess but he doesn't play anywhere near how he used to. Out best players wouldn't be anything but shortstops everywhere else. :sorry:

Do you feel all of your top 9 are superior to Ignacio Chavez in the rotation games?

Nope. I couldn't say that. I don't know much about Chavez, where he plays. I wasn't even thinking of him as a New York City player and again, that's partly due to my limited perspective. I'm certain a handful of the people on my list would beat him overall but the others would definitely be interesting.

EDIT:

I just wanted to add, this has to do in part with how the New York City pool scene is. There are hotspots for pool throughout the city. Amsterdam Billiards, Masters Billiards and Skyline are probably the most notable ones. A player like myself will frequent one of these rooms, maybe two, but not all three. There really are about four top players in New York City and a whole lot of "everybody else". There are definitely players beyond Bonilla and Chavez that are worthy of mention. Tom Walter is a great player. Chris Lynch is another. Tony "Flaco" Rodriguez is GREAT at 1pocket and has done very well in other games. There are easily 30 guys in New York City that are "worthy of mention" at one time or another.

Gene the Machine is pretty good the last time we played!

For Wisconsin, Gene is decent. This thread is about TOP PLAYERS though. Wisconsin doesn't have anyone above, what I'll refer to as, national shortstop level. The best players from Wisconsin are Dave Coles, Johnny Fields, Duncan Kaufman, Randy Lamar and Jeff Carter. Gene can get action with all of those guys if he wants to find out where he stands.

In Wisconsin I would say Gene Albrecht is the top player right now and most of the other mentioned guys are right up there. Does Little John still live in Wisconsin? Where does Willie Munson rank now-a-days?

Yes Little John aka Johnny Fields still lives here. Gene isn't as great as people are making him out to be. He came to a tournament at the room I play out of with all the players I mentioned and he barley even cashed. Then he came back and got beat 9-3 playing bar table 9-ball with a player in the same skill range (maybe a touch above) as the players I mentioned. Again, Gene can get action against any of the players I mentioned if he wants.

As for Willie, he's still got some game left in him. Haven't seen much of him in the last year or two though. Of course I've been hanging out in the pool room and not near blackjack tables. lol.

I think Gene's game has really gotten a lot better in the past year after he dropped the weight and got control of his condition. I saw that he didn't do to well that weekend in Oshkosh (was it?). Maybe he's not playing as much now and too busy promoting.

Does John's game fall a little short of some of the other guys listed? What about that Billy The Kid?

I played in the WIBCA last year and saw Willie won the Masters 9-ball event with most of the characters in the field. I really liked Lamar's game and a few others. Next time I visit the homeland I'll try and get to Oshkosh and few other places to meet up with a few people.

Workin hard at my game

I would love to play any of those guys. I'd appreciate the action. If they don't want to bet alot ,which I'm sure they won't, we could play 200 to 500 sets or something.

I'm not woofing as they call it. It's just the way it is.

Mark O knows I can see.............

You know someone wants to put up some money we got action.

Good luck Geno............

While I dont live in AZ I would think that an All Around between Scott and Rodney would be interesting to say the least.

Did the Pankoff fellow lose some money for you or what??
third on one list and not in the top 10 in the other.

I cant put Rodney on the list, he has a home here but he does not play here at all in the DCT or anything else for that matter. Mike Pankoff is over Chuck and Jon for sure and in an all around with all games played and is over Dennis and Jimmy too IMO, Bobby Emmons I believe will beat either Jon and Chuck also in an "all around" format.
