Lost my interest and am bored when I play...anyone else feel like that?

Suggestion

I actually have one of those books and have never opened it. Maybe it's time. Thanks for the post.

I forgot to mention one other great read:
"Running the Table - The Legend of Kid Delicious, the Last Great American Pool Hustler" by L. Jon Wertheim

Spice it up.. learn a new game. Make a new pool friend.
Change up your routine.

Search out a new Pool Hall.

Mentor a C player.

Help the TD run the tournament.

Involve yourself with the pool tournament.

Start a ladder tournament

Report the results of the tournaments around your area to AZ billiards.

Invite a friend that doesn't know anything about pool to watch you play in a tournament. Or, just take him/her to the tournament, have a few drinks and discuss the 'ins and outs' of running and playing in a tournament.

I think Mikey has exhausted most of that list.

I identify with your slump.

Who knows what will shake the yips. "turn your hat around, put your change in your left pocket and turn your sunglasses upside down." Cheech always has sage advice.

I agree that some down time is refreshing. I haven't been practicing at all lately (down from daily) and actually has fueled some desire to play well the ONE night I can get out to play.

Good luck with the slump mikey. I'm always available for Psyciatric Help - .25 cents ! :yeah:

Lol Matt now I need a shrink for my shrink, this could get expensive haha!

I was laid off for over a year. During that time, I got a job at a pool hall and played every single day. At times I would get a little burned out, and I felt like selling my cues and doing something else. I was really feeling that way when I got called back to work out of state. So I go from Indiana to Illinois and cant play pool anymore, and I mean cant because its not possible with my schedule. I was fine for a while, but after a couple weeks, man I was twitchin and itchin! I couldnt wait to hit some balls! Ive been home for a month and I still cant wait to go hit em. I took playing every day for granted, and I now realize what I had, and that it is gone:(.

Why not try three-cushion billiards for awhile? It is such a different game with an entirely different focus that its novelty may spark the interest that's lacking in pool for you right now.

Take the tournament in Olathe as "vision quest" to work on your game. Make it a goal to practice for the tournament and set a goal such as cashing or finishing in the top 12 or whatever...

trade you?

Frost, you just need a wife and 2 kids at home. Then you will have the desire to get out and play all the time.....if you could only find the key to that damn ball and chain.

come on back to King St Ill give u the 8 that should wake u up MikeyFROST

LOL did you say that as if that was a spot? You should make a trip on out here and come see me one of these days. Teach a couple of these guys a valuable lesson in grinding! Danny was gonna come see me but got caught up on that bike ride. I do miss a pool room with 5 bar tables and 30 big tables. WTF is bar table pool right?

Oh and when you address me, you know to add "Vegas" in front of it. Don't act up and make me fly back to put my size 12's in your pooper, delivery man. I heard Roy came back and snapped Meadows off, I hate I didn't have a piece of that. He called me before he went and I forgot about it and didn't ship him the money. Next call I got was him telling me I missed a score, I can't be mad though because he's won a lot of dough for this guy right here.

Only serious pool rooms have a 3 cushion table. I haven't seen a good 3cush table since NC. Only few times I played I loved it, super fun game.

Yeah I just need a good dose of pool in the type of atmosphere I enjoy. That should get the juices flowing.

Quit Whining and get in the box. :)

But I'm not giving you 10-8 anymore.

Besides, your woman says it's fun for her to watch one-pocket

You know Steve Grant said something similar to me one day, for some odd reason he won't play anymore. Don't be the reason I apply myself buddy, you'll enjoy my company much better in a rut

So am I correct to assume no more BCA/Valley league then??

You know what they say about when you assume...I talked to Paul, I'm on the fence. I'm definitely playing singles, from there I haven't decided what I am going to do. Whatever it is though, will be my choice with zero thought of anyone else.

Don't worry I'll play when you don't want to or can't make it until further notice so we don't forfeit anything. That offer is for you and Paul though. Anyone else, if I even have to blow dry my hair, I'm too busy as of right now.

Haha, I hear that man. Let me know when you get that shaft or decide to come on out, you know I'll hang out. Let you beat me up on that bar table and cry myself to bed.

Apologize for jumping in a little late on this, but this year (since the fall) I am having the worst time giving a crap. I hate it that I don't play with anything like my old intensity. I lose matches because I just can't....well...give a crap. I still like to run balls. I still enjoy that special feeling that you get when you beat a young guy. But man I just can't get enthused any longer. Maybe it is because im 59 and no longer part of America's Youth. Maybe I just think that the APA is not real pool and that is all I get to play now. Maybe it is the start of the fade to where you end up being one of the old toothless guys that do nothing but drink coffee all day and complain. Yes, life gets involved sometimes, but it always has. There is something different now though. And I don't know if I will ever get it back. Or care.
