I was told open bridge are better i find out that i see the ball a lot better .
Close one kill me , i have to keep changing till i feels right .
But what do you feel is best for someone who wears glasses?
Thanks guys..

I almost always use an open bridge. I don't think I am in the norm, but it works for me. I don't really think wearing glasses makes much of a difference.

I agree i think you can sight better with an open bridge .But for power shots
you will have better results with a closed bridge.

Depends on the shot but I use a closed bridge much, much more than an open bridge.
Edit: Forgot to add, I wear glasses.

both have pros and cons. Do what you like the most, as neither is better than the other taking all things into consideration.

Both Bridges have specific chores. I use em all and I wear glasses, Decot eyewear....SPF=randyg

Soft shots and touch shots use an open bridge.
Power shots a closed bridge.
Case closed.

I would agree with this. The closed bridge works well if you have a tendency to raise your cue off your hand during power shots. But it's not a fix.

Even though I play mostly snooker, I use the closed bridge an awful lot when playing pool. I don't know why, I think it's a comfortability thing.

I use mainly, but not exclusively, a closed bridge. I'm not sure if I can even tell you why I use the open bridge when I do, it just feels right for that particular shot is all.

Both are fine, neither is "better" than the other. Go with the one that gives you the best results.

Most people will use all the bridges.

I feel like alot of time i use an open bridge while im down shooting i feel lazy for doing it.

I feel the same way. Mainly closed... but will use open when it's more comfy.

Let's see.... I used to wear glasses, then contacts for several years, and now I'm Lasik'd for going on 8 or so years.

Here's my standard answer. It's been modified over the years, but it revolves around the same theme:

-------------------------

I'm open-hand heavy. But, I think that's because the top professionals that I saw most growing up (Rempe and Sigel) were open-hand heavy.

The progression goes something like this:

Can't make a bridge to save my life
Make an awkward open bridge
Make an awkward closed bridge
Make a good closed bridge
Re-incorporate a good open bridge
Use the open bridge a lot

Often times, a properly formed and used open hand bridge incorporated or re-incorporated into the overall American pool game can be a sign of advancement, as opposed to only thought of as a beginner's bridge. Those who only think of an open hand bridge as a beginner's bridge are missing something.

Most if not all top players use both open and closed. There really is no steadfast reason to use one over the other for most normal shots. You'll see more people close it for power and power spin shots, while they open up or finesse and stretched out reach shots.

Remember this opened or closed...you wouldn't drive your car over a weak bridge....your bridge should be strong.

Thats a good point you brought up. The break is a power shot and most usually raise up out of it. BUT....on every other shot you should not be raising the cue. That is due to too hard of a grip and dropping of the elbow, the cue is forced to raise up. YOu can train yourself to keep the cue down, if you see a player shoot with the open bridge and hes always staying down...he/she is probably a good player, or at least has good mechanics.

I have returned to an open bridge after using a closed for a good time, just less resistance ( and yes, I know how to make a proper closed bridge ). If the open bridge is good enough for Snooker then it's good for me :)

Amen!

Amen to that, I am the same way(i play alot of snooker), I use an open bridge for everything, and I can do anything with the cueball.
