Hello All,

Thought I would post something fun for today.

CueTable Help

Carefully take a look at this layout.....the key shots are from the 1 to 2 and the 2 to 4.

Then download this video http://www.mastering-pool.com/samples_5.flv ( works in Real Player)

and you can see how Mika Immonen plays this rack, complete with commentary.

This sample is taken from the Mastering Pool with Mika Immonen Instructional Series, Special Features.

Enjoy,

Dave

That's almost how I would have done it... if I wasn't half-blind and so far out of stroke.

yeah that shot he did was crazy, Mika, says he hit that one with Top-inside.

you talking about the kick shot on the 4 ball?

I could see he wasn't happy with being straight in, and was hopeing he would do what he did.....thats a darn good shot, very useful in onepocket.

I have the DVD's so I already know how he plays it. Nice plug though

Lol...........I guess you could call this a "Two Way Shot" .....but seriously I thought this rack was pretty interesting and I wanted to share it with everybody.

no i agree, i never saw his dvd...even tho he didn't get exactly like he wanted to made the perfect choices with what was given him....very nice run out

thanks for sharing brother,

Nobody would try and play shape from the 1 to the 2 like that.

I'm not tooting a horn by any means, but thats exactly how i play that shot if i have to hit the gapper. I've shot it many times playing shape in one hole....if you watch the vid link you can see the angle is pretty nice for pulling shape with some high inside.

my take

Shoot the 1 with enough center to slide whitey it picks up right english
off the cushion and comes in about where the post shows.Speed isn't as critical this way as using high inside. I bet whitey ends up on or near the
rail. If it is near the rail I shoot the 2 with enough draw to go across the table and it and it will spin right back to about middle diamond on long rail
with a good shot on the 4.Or I would dog the the one and exclaim "It slid,
did you see that?".

Donny, you are joking aren't you? I think most pro's would play it that way. How would you play it?
In the diagram quoted, the one ball is a diamond from the end rail and the cue ball comes two cushions out of the corner and hits the (second) side rail a little more than two diamonds from the corner. That's a very hard angle to control. It requires the right amount of reverse on the second rail. It won't be easy on worn cloth. It is much easier to get to the spot indicated by two cushions rather than three, and it's a lot more natural to let the cue ball come wider off the second rail and take a somewhat longer shot.

lol oddly enough, thats exactly how he played it. It's funny to watch the clip, as Mika chuckles to himself about how ridiculous the shot was.

I'm sure he did do it, but I would bet anything he wouldn't shoot it in a serious tough match... unless ur in florida on old cloth and a wet day.

Fair enough. :)

Just out of curiosity Donny, you've indicated how you *wouldnt* play the shot...but have yet to specify how you would. Any thoughts?

Well I would shoot it with a little low or maybe I'd shoot it with outside and just a hair below or right at center.

Then again the more I look at this shot the more it makes me think of how this shot is a good shot to have in your arsenal. At this point I'd be too much of a coward to shoot it because I'm always trying to play position to hit the outside of the ball. I'm gonna practice this and other inside english shots.

How he did it.

Here's how he did it for those of you that didn't download the clip.

(I'm terrible with this Cuetable thing)
