I'll be there next Friday and Saturday for the quarter and semi finals. I'm really looking forward to it - it can't come quick enough!
 
Sorry guys, but can anybody tell me why the EPBF is doing this WTC - WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
at the same time as the DERBY CITY CLASSIC :confused:
By now, the DCC is THE tournament in the US i would say, and what are we doing in Europe !?
Yes, we play this WTC on the same date - sorry but that´s ridiculous in my eyes.
Maybe somebody in the EPBF should think about things before doing it - datewise !! :eek:
 
I will see you there as well. I am arriving on the 29th and will be there for the duration rooting on the North American teams (yes, trying to not get in trouble with either country!). It's my first trip to Europe!

WTC cancelled???

I hope this is not true (but I think it is) - I have heard from reliable sources that the WTC championsips has been CANCELLED!!!!

Can any one confirm?

Plus please check before you get on the airplane.

This is really bad news for the pool world.

And even though I am not really affected, it pisses me off if this is true. People make a lot of plans on what others say.

Time for promoters to POST the money!!!

Where did you get your information from ? This pics are some hours old...they are building up the tables and the booths, Why should they do that if it is canceled ?

Please boycott wtc

Please boycott the WTC and any other pool tournament that disrespectfully choses to run an event at the same time as the Derby City Classic. It's an insult to American pool.
 
Hey Mark, please give me a call and Ill let you know what I know (818-325-7652) call anytime. As of right now, several countries withdrew that I know of. One of them was financial reasons. I really hope this goes off. By Fruehlein's pics, this event looked like it was gonna be really nice.

Demonhro, this event was to be side by side the ABF, a major expo in Germany. The conflict of dates was inevitable.

This would suck as I missed the Derby to focus 100% on my game to be ready for this... Wait and see I guess. This happens way too much. :(

MexPoolPlyr, I'm not knocking you. Players got to do what they got to do - they don't set these things up. (In fact - I always pull for you whatever venue 'cause you're our favorite player in L.A....in fact go over there and kick some eurotrash ass;)) I'm just steamed at the powers that be for scheduling anything that would conflict with America's favorite pool happening.:mad:

There are only 52 weeks in the year. It's inevitable that big events will clash sometimes - especially without any sort of clearinghouse.

The DCC will be just fine with plenty of things going on. It's a shame to have this event at the same time - a shame to see most of the European players absent from the DCC but IF the event happens then it will be a worthy event for the players that attend it.

Kind of silly to put it in conjunction with the trade show but promoters have to do what they have to do in these sorts of deals.

Personally, I'd love to see three big events every weekend with enough money for amateurs and pros to live well on.

The only way that you can guarantee that a WORLD event does not overlap an event such as DCC would be for it to be sanctioned by the WPA. Sadly, due to the DCC's format, this cannot happen. If you search these forums I think you'll find more information as to exactly why that is.

As for the rumours about the event being cancelled, this sounds to me too much like "what someone doesn't know, they make up." Just my opinion. See you all next weekend at the World Team Championships!

I was in London yesterday at the ATEI which is a similar show to the ABF and I heard this news from several connected sources. Like you I hope that it is not true because dozens of players have incurred substantial expenses.

Other prominent members of the pool community also had misgivings many weeks ago because the money was not posted ahead of the event and this was an untested promoter.

The sad part is that the DCC has been devalued because players put their faith in an 'official' event.

Couldn´t agree more about this point, many players are still wating for their prize money from last year´s World 10 Ball Chamionships. I heard that the Americans have been paid but not the Europeans and not the Filipinos.
Promises were made by the promoter that prize money would be paid by
15th January but that date has now passed.
