That's wack!

Nah, it is tough. You need a video camera, a stand for it, you need to connect the thing to a laptop computer and have an internet connection, and then there is the actual streaming! I mean, sure there are services on the internet that "seem" to make it realtively straight forward to stream and people like TAR, Bigtruck, Fast Lenny, and others "seem" to make it look actually possible and effective.

But we are talking about the WPA here! They cannot be expected to actually go through all that hassle to promote their events and the sport as a whole. It is not like the WPA events are as important as say, watching Scott Frost drill a guy giving 10-6 on a random Tuesday. It is completely understandable that the WPA would skip going through all the hassle for the sake of the fans and their events as a whole.

Heck, streaming is nowhere near as cool as that scoring update clicker thing, I mean have you seen that thing? It refreshes itself each minute or so! WTG WPA, keep up the good work, this sport is going sky high due to your efforts!

Hopefully one day the WPA can cause schedual conflicts with all of the other events and kill them off, like say the DCC which had crap like live streaming from TAR and Accustats. This way in time the WPA will be the only events for this sport and we can get the continual excitement of scoring updates via those clickers, WOOHOO, another refresh! I think some chinese team just picked up another game over the Prince of Brunei, man this is exciting!

I can't believe this is all the fans of pool get. I hope the players at least get paid. If they don't, the WPA can schedule whatever, whenever they want and it will never be in conflick again.

The WPA does not deserve this thread making a quick and painless trip into obscurity.

Full length match videos

Luckily cueball-vision.de slotted in and they started at least showing the Germany vs Serbia match
The Hohmann/Ottermann doubles match is already online, a second video will be online shortly.

From what the commentators say in the Hohmann/Ottermann video cueball-vision tries to expand (live) coverage with every day.
The planned producer pulled out very shortly and so cueball vision does that with no preparation at all

Sorry Jay, but I fear that is as good as it'll get.

For all who can't navigate on the cueball-vision website, here's a little troubleshooting

* You need Adobe Flashplayer to watch the videos
* When you first click the link you see a grey square with the cueball-vision logo. On the right of it you see lot's of german words headed with "Angebotene Filme" That's the video navigation.
Right now it has the Hohmann/Ottermann vs Klasovic/Mladenovic splitted in two parts. These are the upper two links - click on the bold written World Team Championship Hannover 2010

Sorry that it has only German language, one of the guys is our national coach Andreas Huber

Just wanted to add that the 2nd video also has the Ralf Souquet vs Sandor Tot 9-ball match with some short sequences of Andreas Roschkowsky vs Mladenovic playing 9-ball as well

And for those of you who don't know what tapping is, the TV table has to be tapped again and it's shown on video how it's properly done

That happened because the installations were done in a hurry as the event is playing in a hall of the Hanover fairgrounds, so you don't have ages to make it a pool arena. We have snow here atm, temperatures at or below freezing point and of course lots and lots of trucks going in and out the arena delivering 32 tables and a grandstand.
Not a big deal, but they rushed to mark and tap the tables when the arena was not heated which then affected the stretch of the clotch when the heating started - though it must be very cold inside from what I've heard

The issue was that not enough countries confirmed on time so some of the sponsor pulled out. There was supposed to be TV coverage that would have been streamed as well.
There are 2 cameras here but they don't work all the time....
The prize money was also reduced from 400K to 300K according to what David Morris (EPBF vice president) said at the players meeting but the rumors say that it could be even less.....

besides that, the tournament is great!!! nice setup with a 16 tables arena and 16 practice tables. lots of good matches to view at the same time...

I came to support our team and to take pictures but as few teams canceled their attendance we got to assemble a second team and I got to play too...

I'm going to venture a guess and say that maybe 50% of the advertised prize money is ultimately paid (about 200K). Anything more than that would surprise me, and anything less wouldn't.

I've heard the same rumour that the prize money reduced in double (400 to 200K). I don't think the amount matters that much really, but would have been better to announce 200 and pay 200 rather than coming up with 200 after claiming 400.
Let's hope that is just a rumour.

......how much would you be willing to payout if you're wrong?

Look, I do things a little differently. If I advertise a payout, that's what it is come hell or high water. I've been putting on tournaments for over twenty years and every one has been paid in full - AND RIGHT NOW! Not days, weeks or months later. I know that's not the norm, just how I do things. I don't expect you to understand, but thanks for asking anyway.

I still think it's a little unfair to advertise one thing to get players to come and then change something as vital as the prize money at the last minute. If you think that's okay, then we see things a little differently.

Hold up Jay.. not trying to diss your postion on this at all... in fact I am right there with you... not sure how you could pull an opposing veiw out of what I said.

Settle down on the machismo.. I was just looking for a little action.
