I have went to Reno for the USBTC the last three years and always had a good time. The first one I went to play and the last two I went for TAR. We had some sketchy internet issues those years but they are supposed to be fixed this year. The main point is that it is a very cool tournament.
First year I go and draw Shane first round. He got lucky and beat me. Next couple of years I get to see guys like Appleton, Stevie Moore, Scott Frost and many more top players playing three different games on the bar box. It is good pool. This year a lot of guys said they are coming out due to the added money and cheap rooms. That just got even more appealing. Holly just posted that Cris DeLaGarza tipped her to a deal the Sands put out that will get you $10 a night through the week and $30 on weekends.
So I decided to break it all down out of curiosity what it would cost to fly out and play all three events and spend a week in Reno hanging out having fun and seeing some of the best play on the small track.
Here we go:
Airfare: $340 round trip from Chicago to Reno on Southwest (just picked a city at random)
Hotel from Feb 21-Mar. 1: $120 + tax (Sun-Thurs $10 per night, Fri-Sat. $30)
Food: $40 per day x 8 =$320
8 Ball entry: $125
9 Ball entry: $125
10 Ball entry: $125
Total = $1155 for eight days and nights, food, airfare, hotel and entry into three tournaments with $24,500 added total.
If you can drive to Reno or eat cheaper than the budget you are in really good shape. Or if you only play in one or two of the tournaments.
And the number one reason to go to Reno.........
