what percent of the time do you break and run?

When a better player wants to spot me the breaks only I scoff at that proposition.

Top WPBA players B&R 16-18% under tournament conditions. IMO players like A. Fisher could runout a few more % points than they do if they were a little more agressive and played less safeties. I'm not saying they should, but I believe they could. Johnnyt

those look like numbers that would rival most pro's. are you a pro?

I can play really good sometimes, but no, not a pro. If I could get the 'some' to 'all' and quit my job, then I could be pro.

The above B&Rs I used the magic rack during practice matches (over a couple weeks) with a local guy. During practice each night, In 10 breaks, I made a ball every time in 9 ball. 8 ball maybe 1-2 dry, 10 ball I get 2-3 dry breaks. I ran out a higher % of my 10 ball breaks when I made a ball (compared to 8 and 9 ball), not sure why. If they are saying a pro only runs 18-20%, they need to update their stats! Maybe try it when they practice and don't care if they lose the game.

During tournament play, I could probably knock 5% or more off my numbers due to safety options looking better than running out, maybe another 10-100% from nerves.

Jason, sounds impressive. Even if you can't be pro you should try entering the Open or something. Sounds like you might have a shot at the money.

The 20% break and run stats were a percentage of all the games the player player (not won, just played) vs. other pros. So think of it this way, if the other guy puts a 6 pack on you and you're stuck in the chair, your break and run stats ARE GOING DOWN haha.

If a top pro is evenly matched with other pros, he would win about 50% of his games right? And he's getting a 20% runout rate. So of the times he wins, 40% of the wins come from runout. And that's not counting the times the opponent dry breaks and he runs out in 1 inning. Add those and half his games or more are won in a single inning. That's stronggggg.

This is hilarious that this thread has started. Just this last weekend I beat some guy two sets for 50$ and he wanted weight. I noticed that at least half the time he would break and scratch. So I offered him the breaks. I won the next set as well. Didn't help him at all.

On average. in a race to seven I will break and run 1 or 2 games.

really depends on the game. I can say I b&r the most in 9 ball although I've run more in a row playing 8-ball (9ft gc with buckets).

I have played pro events and cashed twice (Turning Stone and US Open 9 ball losing hill/hill to Zion Zvi) and 1 round out of money (Turning Stone), my last 3 events.

My next pro event is the US Open 10 ball in vegas and would love to cash again. I am extremely excited to play and nervous has hell to do good.

Well I'll root for you to cash. I can't root for you to win though if my favorites are playing! Actually it'd be pretty cool for a guy with a day job to win. Good luck.

I try to have at least one B&R every league night.

Last night I had 1 B&R out of 5 breaks. The night before, I had 2 B&R's out of six breaks.

I probably average about 20%+ on bar table league nights.

funny you said that. my goal is also 1 per match. sometimes i do better, other times i have to let the goal go because the tables just aren't cooperating! :D

I think its a good way to work on B&R's.

The opponents change, the tables change, etc.

And you almost always get breaks that make B&R's possible.

And its a competitive situation where the "I just don't care" excuse doesn't apply.

Thats generally my goal too but with the tables around here there's not telling whats going to happen!! or how they are going to roll for that matter
