IRO which are the best brand 8' or pro 8' tables that take the weather best. There is a roof over it but the rest is just sceened on three sides. I live in Florida. I'd like to get 3 to 5 years out of it. Thank you. Johnnyt
Johnny, in that situation I'd stay with the Valley you have. Look, if you really want to take all the weather problems out of your playing conditions, take your table apart, raise up the slate from the frame of the table, slide it to one side so you have access to the bottom of the table. Then on the side of the table that the balls don't rack up in the ball drop, drill a hole big enough to drop a cord through, and place a 1,500 watt space heater in the bottom of the table, close enough that you can reach over the top of the backboard in the ball drop to adjust the settings, then put everything back together. I'd use a space heater with a fan.
Now, you'll have a heated slate which will give you a much better controlled playing condition on your table, while at the same time, dry out any humidity in the body of the table as well as the rails...and of course...the cloth

Thank you very much Glen. I do like this Valley and will do what you said with the space heater when I recover next. I already have the cloth so I think Ill practice jumping and masse' shots to wear the Tour Edition out faster. If I see a 8' Valley at a bargain price I might pick that up down the road. Johnnyt

Hi Johnnyt,
Just wanted to add a comment hear so you don't learn the hard way. If you put a standard space heater under you table in a sealed environment you have a serious fire risk. Just know you enter at your own risk. Now that I said that, consult an electrician to wire an AC wire filament on a low wattage. You can make a masonite frame under the slate to reduce the cross flow of air and better maintain the average temperature. With the reduced air to disapate heat you will not have to use the high BTU of the space heater so the safety level is much better. This is the basic design of a Billiard table heater. For more detailed information ask OTLB or A1 billiards as they are top billiards table guys. Of course, it might be better you don't tell them I sent ya! heh
