Roving reporter JoeyA just phoned in a quick update on White Diamond entries. With 125 players currently signed there are three slots left available. A full field seems assured and the calcutta is certainly in the tens of thousands, possibly over thirty thousand.

Looks like another fine weekend in Lafayette!

Terry -- saw yours first and posted there too. Auctioneer is Chris Miller -- the best there is bar none!

It was 125 as JoeyA said; however, there were some last minute bails -- they announced it at 120 as of now.
 
The Auctioneer really knows how to work it, that prize fund is going to be huge. Any clue on how many spots they pay out?
 
Thanks, I thought I heard bigtruck say they were paying 12 spots in the tournament, but didnt hear him say 12 spots in the calcutta. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
 
Wow...120 entries and they're only paying 10%? That's unusual for the competitors, and I wonder if they knew that going in? The standard normal payout is 25% in almost any tournament. Usually, though, they don't pay that deep in the calcutta. Maybe because they're paying deeper in the calcutta, they decided to pay only the top 12 in the event. Don't know why, though...neither money set (tournament vs. calcutta) has anything to do with the other. I know Chris Miller (owner of White Diamonds) is a stand up guy and runs a great tournament!

our rovinb reporter is coming up the top side!

Our roving reporter JoeyA is coming up the top side, having beaten Chris Miller who isn't any slouch himself, and a few more. He said the replies in his recent thread asking how to deal with barboxes have been a huge help!

Some tough matches ahead but with somewhere around 120 players coming up the short side is always the way to go. Short races on the bar tables can make life interesting for anybody.

The smell of the steaks sizzling on the grill got to Joey! He had to choose between $15,000 and a hot juicy steak. Being the natural born carnivore that he is he went for the steak!

Wonder what low-life put the fan blowing out from the window to the kitchen? Bet they didn't have Joey in the Calcutta. :angry:

Joey had to settle for 7-8 out of 120 including some of the best bar box players anywhere. Not too shabby atall atall. :thumbup:

You saying JoeyA got jarred by a T-Bone? Wait, it was a Rib-eye, wan't it? I don't even know if I spelled it right, been so long since I ordered one!

Joey, that was some mighty fine shooting Sir! I was getting tired just watching the past two days!

I'm pretty sure that Joey's $1,000 in the calcutta was the 6th highest of all the players there! The word is OUT!

Congratulations my friend. We're very, very happy for you!
