I bought a used table and had it moved from a garage to my basement.
The mechanic showed up by himself, tightened up his belt and carried the 1" slates into his van.
Said he can't make living paying help all the time so he does it himself. I was amazed, I'm 5'8" 160, and this dude was smaller than me. He did bring some help getting it down to my basement stairs the next day.
Can you guys typically handle a piece of slate on your own?

I've carried 7,8,9's in when I was younger. Not anymore! I have to tell you I saw Pat O'donnels helper's Victor RUN up the stairs in NY last summer with one 1/3 of an 8 foot one inch table. He can't be 150lbs.

Hey i just thought of a new title for this post. ARE YOU OTHER GUYS THIS STUPID? LOL

This reminds me...when is OTLB organizing the Slate Carrying aka Reverse IQ Test. LOL

We routinesly carry 7', and can do 8' when in a jam. For our own safety and the safety of the slate, we don't even attempt 9' without help, being either another person, or mechanical advantage.

8 foot one inch is cake, connelly 8 1/4 is easy as is for me too. im not that old though at 29.

can(used to) dead lift a 8 foot piece over my head, havent tried for a couple years........maybe i will attempt soon with pics

I don't know about you guys I swear:D just to get one end of a diamond dolly up a step with a 9ft on it requires a 615lb dead lift to get the dolly end up high enough to clear the first step....you don't hear me complaining:D:D and I work alone:p...AND I'm 53yrs old:p:p

This will be included in the First WORLD Mechanic challenge next year that will be held at the SBE. Also we will have a tug of war contest with a bed of Simonis 860. Of course you all know that there will be weight classes.

OK so far:

1. rail toss
2. arm wrestling
3. tug of war
4. slate carry
5. fastest covering a GC3 rail-------I'm still waiting to see someone do this on youtube. I think the present record is 13 seconds?
6. Buffet eating contest(Glen banned)
7. 50 staple pull
8. fastest loading of a GC 3 in your vehicle, no scratches(no pun intended)
9. of course thats after the event of fastest dismantling of a GC 3

Ok Turk is responsible for establishing the std frying pan. We need maker and model.

#4 is the slate carry over your head and to enter you must have your own piece 9ft 1 inch.

After further consideration #6 will be replaced with the fastest applied bandaid to a corner pocket and if you staple your finger you loose.

Think safety first guys...

But a good idea is to allow no shoes or boots worn in the slate carry divison..
I have had a few customers ask me to remove my shoes in there house...you guys ever carryed a slate down steps with no shoes or boots?
That will sort em out...

grab ass? don't know what your talking about. Lets be clear about something right now. The SBE is NOT a shithole. It is a reflection of a small amount of people who make it that way. Impossible to keep up with some of the destruction and lack of respect for others.

Actually I'm glad your not entering, very glad. However it would have be fun to see you carry slate downstairs with no shoes. Like thats hard, give me a break.
