i'm not a huge gambler by any means but ever since i started playing for table time i actually hate playing for anything less.

normally when i go into a room i'm looking to play 20 dollar sets. if i just got paid, or i really like the match, i'll play for a hundred or 2. i'll admit that's doesnt happen a lot but it does happen. i usually like to play for 10-50 and i get really irritated when i cant find a game that cheap. i'd understand if someone only wanted to bet more but these days people either seem to want to play for less or not at all

am i the only one that feels people should bet something, play someone, or go the f*ck home! i'm tired of walking in and seeing people that play drinking water so they can avoid buying a soda and sitting on the side lines doing nothing

Their probably assuming you're dumping for some side action:rolleyes:;)

nobody ever bets on the side during my matches. and i bet my own dough so nobody ever has to worry about getting dumped by me:thumbup:

if you ever see me on TAR betting 2k and i say the rail's open then get at me and i'll let you know which way to bet;)

I don't feel anyone has to bet or gamble. I don't gamble - so, I am one of the ones you are telling to get the f*ck out of the pool room.

Give me a break.

You're not the only one who feels this way, but plenty of people don't. My take on people who don't want to gamble is: they don't want to gamble. It's dangerous to assume any more.

Jimmy Alo, for example, reportedly never gambled, or smoked, or drank. Did this make him a nit? If you think so, I'd like to have been there when you told him.

Many men who play pool either have no dependents or live as if they have no dependents. It's easy for a batchelor (or someone with a lot of disposable income) to gamble, but nowadays, especially, things are tight. I recently witnessed some guy woofing at a local tattoo artist. "Where's your heart?" he asked. "You used to bet it up". "Well" the tattoo guy said, "I had a kid and if I lost even five bucks to you I see I sandwich that my kid isn't going to eat." Does that attitude make this guy stupid? Heartless?

People do not gamble for many reasons. I have two Main Reasons!

It spoils my personal fun. I play pool for fun/recreation.

I don't have the say the $20.00 a Set too loose.

If I was to gamble with someone it would only be because I would more than 90% sure I would win, that is not gambling IMHO. That is stealing.

Pool is a Game of Skill, and Mental Nerves, and if you are under skilled, and don't have the mental part of the game, I would think you will not win a lot.

hay if you've got kids i guess i could see that.

i probably would have called jimmy alo a nit. i'm pretty quick on my feet when i need to be:thumbup:

I guess I should go the f*** home too.

Sorry that you're wanting to drive paying customers away from businesses that can use the revenue.

most of the guys i see that won't bet anything usually won't buy anything either.

i've seen people sit around in a pool room for 5+ hours and not spend a dime. they just keep drinking free water and complaining about this that or the other.

Not gambling means go home?

Ok, and watch as every single pool hall in America goes broke and gets put out of business.

I grew up gambling on pool, and I prefer a little side bet on a game. But do I have a problem with people who don't gamble at pool. ABSOLUTELY NOT! I have a lot of admiration for Ralf Souquet. He is a gentleman sportsman and a great competitor. He prefers not to spend his time in money games. He would rather win the twenty or forty thousand being offered to the winner of the tournament he is playing in. And he manages to do this with regularity!

Bottom line - some guys (and gals) like to gamble at pool and some don't. My feeling is this, if you want to play for money, ask the people who also like to gamble. Don't bother the ones who don't!

as soon as i play as good as ralph souquet does i'll stick to playing in big tournaments too!

I love to gamble and rarely rarely play without having something on the line.

However, I see a lot of people come in and play regularly and not gamble. Hey, to each his own, no problem. If you want to blanket judge those that choose not to gamble, then you probably have some personal issues adversely affecting other areas in your life. JMHO

The people I take issue with are the cheapshits that only come in on free play day, or half price play day, and don't buy squat, and don't tip squat. They should be taken out back, shot, chopped up, packaged and sold as chicken. ;)

I doubt you're the only one, but definitely in the minority.

Will develop CJD... Look it up, it ain't fun.

CJD or Crutchfeldts Jacobson's Disease is the human variant of mad cow syndrom. It is caused by eating your own species dead. They've done studies on canibalistic tribes in south america and it can have an incubation period of 10-30 years and once it onsets, there is no cure and your brain eats itself.

So please don't grind them up and package them as chicken. Package them as soy and let the vegetarians get CJD....

J.K.....
