butterfly splices/points?

Very educational thread, thanks for sharing.

Man, cues are ugly when being built. Kinda like supermodels without makup.

What is the most butterflies you stuck in a cue? Have you ever built a "rainbow" cue with all the colors?

Many different techniques, Some router cut, milled cut and definately table saw cut.
I have seen as many as 10 veneers in a butterfly from Billy Webb. I haven't tried that many yet but I think about it. These are samples of router cut.

All I can say is WOW. Those splices are ridiculous!! And I love the alternating of colors, changing from each splice! Is the cue finished yet? I'd love to see the completed one!
no sir, it isnt
although it should be by now, but i have fallen behind
probably because i spend too much time on the computer

I always like watching that video, It shows the real importance of using black epoxy. But I really like that spray station.

As a proud owner/operator of a Falcon M5 (a tuxedo cue not unlike the one being made in the show) I can say that black epoxy hits a tonne ! For your lovely colourful cue (btw, just put a burl butt on that beauty methinks) something like this may be just the ticket :

Butterly Cues

Paul Fanelli,
He's the man, I saw some of his most recent work. Beautiful, stunning, beyond compare. Awesome cues, ideas and colors. He frequents "Castle Billiards" in rutherford NJ and if you talk to him he might be willing to get you going in the right direction. Very nice guy, GREAT cuemaker.
