New tip question

I have been playing with the original Triangle tip that came on my Lucasi since I bought it. The cue hit very well. Finally it was worn down to the point of needing to be replaced. I took it to the local Billiard store and had a new Triangle put on.Now the cue hits a lot more solid. So my question is
Was the original not a real Triangle?
Did I just forget how it hit when it was new?
Are there large differences between Triangle tips?
I'm not complaining the cue feels much better now. Just wondering.
Also I can't see spending more then the $10 it cost for any tip.I played for 3 hours and did not mis cue once and I use a lot of extreme english on hard and soft shots.

The hit will feel different depending on how worn down the tip is. Also, the less expensive tips tend to be less consistent from tip to tip. I've heard of guys sometimes having to put on numerous tips to find one that hit right.

It may be a combination of these things.

You may have had a floater (refering to the dropping of Triangle tips into a glass of water. The better ones sink, while the inferior ones float.).

Triangle tips are my favorite. They (the sinkers) hold their shape well, hold chalk very well, and have a nice, medium-hard hit (at least on my cues).

I would think that even the floaters play well, just don't hold their shape as well.

Didn't mean to make it confusing but the Triangle that is now on the cue hits a lot better then the original triangle. So I was just wondering if the original tip was a real Triangle. You know I still don't trust the Chinese manufacturers of any product to do things properly. I know I have a Chinese made cue that only cost a couple hundred but it's not going to kill me like the lead paint issue or the sour drywall. Or so many other products if not made correctly will hurt or kill. I'm in the floor covering business and my company bought a large amount of Chinese made carpet pad at a crazy low price. We had to open a 100 rolls and roll them out to dry because they came in wet. Then we found out that they were not cut straight and looked like a snake when rolled out. They were a horror to install. So the low price soon became a nightmare. Hopefully when I break with my cue it won't shatter and stab me. Probably my last import cue anyway.

One possible explanation for the difference in your new Triangle, and the one that came with your cue when you bought it could be the possibility that the cue sat around for quite some time before you purchased it, so the tip was a little old.

Are you sure you weren't shooting with a Le Pro tip?

I'm not sure what was on it. Most of the web sites that sell Lucasi cues state that it comes with a Triangle. But Billiards Warehouse says Le Pro.
All I know is that it hits more solidly now.
Anybody know how to find out for sure? One thing I'm certain of is that next time it needs a new tip it will be a Triangle.
