The king of ten ball

Chris,

I'm pretty sure we said, "that may have contributed". WHAT you eat is the biggest factor IMO. I think the point we were trying to make is that Shane's preparation was exceptional and Donny's seemed a little more casual. They were simply observations.

Hope you enjoyed the show!

Ray

yes the show came in good.
its nice to watch and bet bet being the most important thing.

Were any of Shane's matches recorded to ustream?

Mudd,

I have ALL the matches recorded and will be loading a few key matches on PoolActionTV.com Seminole page very soon.

The finals and the Shane/Donny match will be there for sure.

Thanks,

Ray

on the show you guys were talking about donny ate before his match and you think thats why he played bad.
i dont agree i eat right before i play
and i eat during my match when i gamble.
i see tiger eat playing golf.
i think svb is a great player.
the top pinyos a lil better

Chris,

I didn't think Donny played bad! I watched the match. Donny played fine, Shane just went into high gear and he got comfortable. Donny happened to be who Shane was playing when he caught the gear.

Corey and Earl both didn't play Shane up to their top gears, but Donny played very well and just came up short.

Shane caught one of his best gears on Corey too and it was really over. 4 pack, safe, 4 pack, safe, 5 pack - it adds up. Corey got so cold he started playing desperate shots.

Donny is one hell of an impressive player, no doubt, and gave Shane all he wanted.

I still think Shane is getting better. He needs to play and beat Orcollo and Van Corteza, Yang and Bustamante to get his confidence up there.

Ok thanks Bigtruck. The public internet at my apartment complex is really slow (even though they say it is supposed to be fast), so watching streams is a no go. I'm looking forward to watching some of those matches.

Shane got flustered about something in that match....I can't remember what....something about the length of the day I believe, however being a top pro he should have been able to let it go. Shane said he trained hard for the tournament and it showed. I would think if he would train hard for any match anyone could find themselves very far behind quickly especially if his break is working cause there aint nobody that breaks like he does. Phillipino or not.

dont get me wrong ,i think svb is a great player
just not the best ten ball player like the thread says
KING OF TEN BALL

just so you know

Shane played the best 10 ball most of us have ever witnessed this weekend. When I watched him thursday night it was as if I had
already read the end of the story .....he knew. I too want to see Shane play anyone from anywhere being as prepared as he was for this last
tournament. All I can say is someone is really going to have to come with something unearthly special to beat that young man. Honestly, I used to get tired of all the hype on here and TAR ....Shane this .....Shane that.Well last year I left Cape Coral ,Fl Knowing that he was probably one of the best 10 ball players alive.......well he did it again right here in GA .My hats off and I'm saying thanks for showing us how it's done. Most people don't have the iron it takes to give this sport the discipline that Shane has......It was as if Shane was asking the question in this song all weekend....no one could answer back. 9-1, 9-2, 9-3's, 9-5 and 11-3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gah9s4gqk1U
maybe one of the pinoys can .......MAYBE ???

Joey, just my opinion but I thought you commentating was great, if there were any ohs and ahs I didn't notice. DiToro was also very good. Great pool and Shane really looked good.

Thanks Bob. Maybe Eric was just sticking me with the needle. :D I'm sure I have some uhh's on occasion and I can always improve but I appreciate your comments.

In the future, I will make a special effort to spend more time in the booth with Johnny DiToro. I had a lot of fun with him and it will only get better.

Here's the shot on paper...

Thanks for the excellent diagram of the break shot.

I'm still contemplating getting the BreakRak. I can order it from the link in your signature, correct?

This is the FIRST rap song that I have ever googled for the lyrics. Some of the lines that I related to as far as the sport is concerned and Shane are:

I'm a slave to my trade.
Can you rock it like this?
But can you rock it like this?
I can rock it like that!
Well can you rock it like this?
I can rock it like that!

Thanks for opening my mind, Matt.

King

KING OF TEN BALL

YES.
KING.

That doesn't mean he can't be beat. It means he is at the top of the
TEN BALL CROWD.

I haven't spoken to Shane but I believe that he would play any one of your aforementioned players here in the U.S.

It is my observation that Shane's game is maturing and so is he. Shane's game has improved and if he stays at this level, he will remain KING.

You're mistaken about me saying that donny played poorly because he ate before his match. Maybe someone else said that but I didn't.

If I were to make assumptions about why Donny didn't play his best I would say it is because of his sleep patterns, but my advice to Donny or any other professional player should be taken with a grain of salt.

The "top Pinoys" should make attempt to make appointments but I have a feeling that the phone won't be ringing for Shane to play anyone Ten Ball.

BTW, is Efren excluded from that group of "top Pinoys"?

Donny missed several shots against Shane, you are correct Chris. You just can't do that.

Donny still showed me some things in that match. You know Donny just had a bad day, which speaks to his preparation imo.

Joey,

It's only constructive criticism from someone that has actual industry experience and coaching, not just someone that was told by a couple of people that "you have a nice voice, you should do radio, etc...".

Go back and listen to your other recorded material, like, the Galveston matches on Ustream. Every other sentence has "uhhh", followed by "ahhhhh".

Anywho, sorry if it rubbed you wrong, just tryin to help a lil, FWIW.

No problems. No worries. I genuinely appreciate your constructive criticism, especially since you have experience in the business.

No excuses to speak of and I will work on the the uhh's and ahh's but as to Galveston, it is a wonder that I could utter a word after all of the hours I put in. Most days I did commentary with few breaks working 12 hour days doing commentary in addition to talking with the fans, players and staff the rest of the time. This was an ELEVEN DAY event and the rest of the commentators that they hired just weren't there.

I think one of the problems with doing pool commentary is that most of the time you do not have a producer feeding you information to relay to the audience. On a couple of gigs I have had a producer whispering data into my headset like Jiminy Cricket and it helps round out the show. While I am waiting for pool to catch up with the rest of television and radio I will try to improve on my delivery.

Thanks,
JoeyA

I hear ya, Joey. I can understand the difficulty of talking and trying to keep things interesting for a whole day of commentary. It's not easy, even though it can be fun. My industry experience was short lived once the "fun" wore off and it became work. I dropped it and stuck with my main career (which puts bread and water on the table). Hell, it wasn't like I thought I was gonna be Mel Blank or Don LaFontaine, lol!

did i put efren on my list?

If Shane is the king at Ten ball then what does that make Alex P, when Alex was down 20+ games in a race to 100? Alex is INSANE!!!!!

That's called..."Shane had a girlfriend at the time"...replay that again today and you'll be talking a different story;)
