The king of ten ball

Home Field Advantage

yes this list is short.
svb plays real good.
but there are guys over there i never heard of who beat him.

There are many talented players that are virtually unknown outside of their country, especially in the Philippines.

Perhaps some of those guys will travel to South Dakota to play him or some other U.S. location that Shane prefers playing in.

There is such a thing as home field advantage whether people take advantage of it or not.

Anyone can lose a match every now and then.

All right then let me put it on you to pm me for the action. Anytime Shane is playing any of the Pinoys on your list from now til the end of DCC in an even set - tournament or gambling you have the action with me as long as you pm me and I confirm.

I won't come after you but if you think of it just hit me up.

Edited to add: we have to confirm before the match starts or no bet since you don't want to do it the way I proposed at first.

OK, here you go.

I will keep track of Shane's matches with Bartram's "short list" and will hook the two of you up when it is time. My vigorish is 20% from the winner only.

Shane is KING of TEN BALL until proven otherwise!
Just keep in mind that even the great kings lose a battle here and there but the kings who survive, win more battles than they lose.

Shane is FAR more than a survivor, imo.

What I saw watching Shane was how confident he looked at the table. He never showed any emotion.

I was playing in a tournament one day and someone came into the room and saw I was in the middle of a match. The overhead score was six to three. He looked at me and later stated, "I couldn't tell if you were winning or losing when I came into the room."

That's the sign of a confident player, as far as I'm concerned. I wasn't slumped over in my chair and I wasn't squirming in my seat waiting for my next chance at the table.

That's the way Shane looks right now. He knows he's a heavy favorite to win any match and his body chemistry reflects his confidence.

By the way, "I was losing that match at the time. I believe I came back to win it."

Shane's 10 ball game is something to behold, ain't it? One thing is for sure, his 10 ball break is one of the best in the world. When he gets the second ball goin into the side pocket consistently, it's game over. When Shane's break is working, 10 ball looks like the top players playing 9 ball, with a tapped in rack. It's sick.

On a side note, you have a nice even voice for commentating. Jsut one critique; you should work on your technique a lil i.e. eliminating the excessive "uhh's" and "ahhh's". It'll make your delivery more "professional".

FWIW, SVB used to break several hundred times a day using the BreakRak.

Obviously, it helped a LOT.

Thea BreakRak is a great tool for improving your break.

Mark Griffin

Mark,

I was one of the early adopters of the Break Rak. I bought it when it first came out and I cannot say enough what a valuable purchase that was. It is by far the best tool for working on the break. I, like many, try to emulate Shane's break. I have actually come reasonably close (though lack his consistency obviously). The Break Rak is great for learning to get that pop out of the head ball that creates such action in the rack. HIGHLY recommended.

Joey...I love it when you're behind the mic...and yes, Shane was unreal...with just enough slip ups once in a great while, and only when far ahead, to show he's human.

I was at the tourny as well & I did notice one thing Shane did differently than the rest of the field.

He was consistently at the tables. On Saturday afternoon I watched him hit break shots for 2 hours. Saturday night after all the matches were done and the room cleared out the 14 tourny tables were quite, all except one. The one Shane was at practicing table length straight and cut shots.

Most players would warm up, some hit balls when not playing but the only player I saw "seriously working on his game" was Shane

He should be getting more out of his game, he's putting more in to it

Reminds me of Nick Varner in his prime.
He deserves everything the game gave him 'cause he did the work.

:) Thanks Eric. I'll work on the uhh's and ahh's. It seems that when I have had a long layoff from commentary the imperfections show up more often. I guess it's kind of like playing pool. :D

I remember when I spent two weeks in Japan doing cold weather training, I would listen to the Japanese radio and the announcers would be talking and saying something close to "ahno" on a regular basis and finally after two weeks I had to know what "ahno" meant and my Japanese friend said it was like our uhh's and ahh's. LOL

Joey, just my opinion but I thought you commentating was great, if there were any ohs and ahs I didn't notice. DiToro was also very good. Great pool and Shane really looked good.

Shane is monster 10 ball player indeed. It will be very interesting to see what he makes of his career. Nothing short of spectacular I would imagine.

If Shane is the king at Ten ball then what does that make Alex P, when Alex was down 20+ games in a race to 100? Alex is INSANE!!!!!

you are right on there.
svb is the king of ten ball in the usa.

I agree with Joey. On this weekend, Shane WAS the King of Ten Ball. I don't think anyone could have beat him.

He was up at 6am to work out at the hotel weight room,he had breakfast well before his match and was there when the doors opened to practice. I was there when he was practicing for 3 hrs Saturday night too. He was SO focused during his practice that he didn't even notice the hawt gals that were nearby watching. Nothing was in the room except HIS table and the shot at hand.

SVB IS the epitome of a professional.

Chris,

I'm pretty sure we said, "that may have contributed". WHAT you eat is the biggest factor IMO. I think the point we were trying to make is that Shane's preparation was exceptional and Donny's seemed a little more casual. They were simply observations.

Hope you enjoyed the show!
