Gonna be refelting my 9 footer soon and was wondering what everyone out there used and/or liked. I wanna switch it up this time so no simonis.
So what do yall think?

buy brunswick centenial cloth great stuff better than simonis i think.

it wears better and plays fast for a longer period of time.

just my opinion tho.

Championship is next though Velocity seems to get pretty good reviews also.
Then you have Brunswick, Forstmann, Mali. I think Charles W. House may have stopped making billiard cloth.

use simonis please

not being pushy and im sure other cloths are good.

simonis supports pro and amateur pool better then anyone.

if u cant make up your mind please support simonis.

im not paid to say good things about them [i wish i was lol] but they do alot for pool and i would love to see loyalty towards them if possible.

believe me if simonis quit sponsoring pro and amateur pool it would hurt us alot. just something to think about.

I have been using Championship for years. I have the new Champ/ 3030 on my 9' Olhausen. It plays very well. I have a lot of friends over and they really like it also. Most of the place's around here also went to
championship. It needs to be stretched very tight to play right.
Good Luck,

Velocity Pro is a very good cloth- just as fast at about half the price of Simonis. There is a new Aramith tournament cloth as well but I haven't played on it yet.

John - interesting point. To some extent I agree but I have the feeling there are other companies that would jump in to fill their spot.

Just a thought...if that were the case....where have they been for say...the last 20 years or so...nothing has been stopping them from sponsoring pool tournaments on their own....why would Simonis have to stop...before they stepped to the plate?;)

You're 100% right John;)

Texas don't have table mechanic's anyway...so that's a perfect match for any cloth you want to put on your table from this point on, I can certainly understand your desire to try another kind of cloth on your pool table....seeings how your table mechanic thinks that Simonis is nothing more than cheap rail cloth anyway.

After all, why would anyone want to support the cloth company that the Pro's play on...and endorse as the best...when second best is good enough;)

Enough said...be happy:D

Many companies (not all companies and not in all cases) actuall buy an "exclusive" when they advertise or sponsor an event of some sort. So, as long as maker of a particular product is there that keeps all other competitors who would like to advertise the same out of that verue. I don't know if that is the case but it is a strong possibility. ie: If State Farm Ins sponsors the Rail Classic LPGA tournament you will not see Gieco as an official sponsor.

Not the case with pool. Diamond provides the most support for pool tournaments there is today with pool tables. The choice cloth on Diamond tables is...Simonis...because no one has stepped up to Diamond and show them they have a better cloth....and Diamond I can assure you...only uses the best...without a contract;)

And the fact that Simonis outbid the other cloth companies.

Please don't exaggerate. Simonis pays for the right to be associated with Diamond.

For that they get what they want which is exposure. That does not make Simonis the best cloth it just means that they made the better offer.

I know you are a die hard Simonis fanboy Glen. But you are not totally in the loop on this one and probably ought to talk to your people before you make posts like this one.

I am not really sure why you all want to guilt trip the original poster into buying Simonis. Seems like he HAS Simonis on his table and wants to try something else.

What's wrong with that?

Other than giving away cloth does anyone have any idea how much real cash Simonis puts into pool?

Clearly we see their logo on everything but I am sure that most of you know that getting a logo on a flyer as a "sponsor" isn't always a cash deal.

I personally have only heard of a few instances where Simonis actually comes across with cash. Mostly it seems to be that they provide the cloth.

I wonder how things would change if every major event was able to be bid on by several cloth companies.

For example in 2008 Miliken through Sterling put in the high bid for the BCA's GenerationPool.com professional event and thus we supplied the cloth and I think $20,000 towards the prize fund. Please don't quote me on the dollar amount as we spent around $60,000 in sponsorship for the whole event and I don't know how much of it was for the right to be the cloth sponsor.

Perhaps if we can put an end to the backroom deals we can see some serious growth in sponsorship when companies are allowed to bid on the sponsorship rights.

Just a thought.
