Why is a pool cue one of the best mech tools?

When setting up any modern table it's important to keep the slates tight especially when the table has been set up before as the screws will chase the previous locations. An easy way to eliminate this problem is to place two shorter cues in the bolt holes sticking down through. Then you just clamp and squeeze together. Locked up nice and tight. You can use cues on hand and wrap them to protect but it's better to bring 4 horse cocks.

And when working on antiques you just use the rail bolts.

Say what.......:confused::confused:

I think I understand what you are describing John.
Do you mean placing the cues through rail bolt holes on opposite sides of a seam then drawing the slates tight together?

I was taught to thread a ratchet strap through the rail bolt holes from one end slate to the other end slate.
Tightening the strap draws the seams together and allows the slate to be moved around the frame as a single piece.

imo this is the best way and frees up your hands

I can always tell when you've had your pee pee caught in the zipper of your panties....caus after you recover from the pain...you start with these line of questions...that don't mean anything to anyone but you:p

I'm not a mechanic so I know this is really none of my business but thats funny right there!

What's funnier then that is there are 3 more great uses not identified yet and they all have to do with putting on cloth. That clamp part was easy
How about drilling the center out and installing a minnie camera in it then stick it up your ASS and shut the hell up! I am so sick of you coming on here and running your threads up and none of us learn anything accept that you are a ignorant ASSHOLE!. There i said it and i will not leave this forum or lye like you. Get over it and shut the hell up.

LMAO There it was. Nice to see you again Ron. ;) I think you nailed it though. John is more worried about running up his thread count than sharing worthwhile information. How many times have you seen him poke at Glen because he says he has a higher thread count? Who cares.

I don't know what it is about the thread count and John being obsessed about it like it's some kind of points system or something, but to put his bragged about 60,000 views into some kind of perspective, John should add these thread counts up to give him some kind of idea as to what they all mean...

This is the thread count of 8 threads started by me:grin:

Diamonizing a Gold Crown 3............7,079 views.
Before & After.................................8,144 views
For all you would be flamers!...........10,288 views.
For all you die hard Brunswick fans....5,147 views
Notice to Diamond of no longer deli..19,326 views
Sticky, Finished instructions............14,816 views
Pre-view of DVD.............................. 10,927views
When installing rail cloth....................5,965 views

For John, I believe that totals 81,692 views...without throwing in all the rest of my thread views:rotflmao1: I wonder if I can cash them in on a free cup of coffee:rotflmao1:

PS. For that matter, Rick has the highest thread count of all time in the Mechanic's section, the mechanic directory in the stickies

Gracious comments aside there are still 3 more reasons why a pool cue is a great tool. You guys think Glen and I are enemies, WE ARE NOT! We do bust each others balls from time to time but agree on most things. We spoke on the phone this weekend and he was helping me get a job.

Glen knows I will talk to him on the phone and if he were to call me as he has in the past we have always had a pleasant conversation

Thread count is a numerical statistic that's relative to the dynamics interlinking previous and present data as it relates to the determination of inconsequential information revolving around a construed and somewhat relative mathematical formula that consequently equates to an elevated platform of recognition beyond normal constraints as a denominator. It is therefor a focal point on the Internet itself being the only common factor that dictates a hierarchy of placement when a normal user seeks out data and relative criteria.

When gluing cloth I believe most guys put blankets on the floor to catch any glue from spray cans. You can roll up a runner if you will on the short cue and roll it out quickly then use it in the clamp process. Much easier then a blanket. The other two are so far advanced I think I would want to talk them over with Glenn in person before posting

If true...I am glad to hear your live communications with RKC are civil. The man knows what it takes to make a table play "right" as seen by his work on here.

I am no mechanic, but I do get interest in reading about the mechanics threads...I find the knowledge of how a pool table is set up to be interesting, and also belive that knowledge can improve ones overal pool game.

That being said....It seems to me the uses for a cue stick being posted so far could just as easily be done with a cut off broom stick...or some other wooden dowel...

If that is the case....I would think that the wooden dowel would be the "better" tool since there is no taper to worry about to affect the usage.....or the possibility of ruining an otherwise usable pool cue.

It would also seem to be cheaper to use wooden dowels....(or cut off broom sticks)....granted it may not be maple of have a nice finish...but it would seem to do the same job......better.

maybe im missing something but i dont see how a dowel or cue helps with table work. strapping the 3 slate pieces together does work.

I've thrown an hour or two of my life in the toilet wading through your posts in the hope of nuggets of wisdom, and resent you a bit for it, but I have to admit you have some damn good taste in beer OTLB.

Newcastle....hmmmm, hmmmm, good. Love that beer.
