Arne Mason is a leather worker who specializes in finely constructed leather cases. Not highly decorated ones, just finely made ones that reach a level of elegance rarely seen these days.

His work is inspiring to me and the reasons I share him with you today are that he also makes cue cases, or better said, I know he has made at least one. And he made a case for fly fishing tools which I think is one of the coolest cases ever and I have endeavored to make the concept into a cue case.

Two years ago I made one version of it called Shorty's Flycase. and didn't do a great job of it. The one you see pictured at this link is the better version of that first one.

Now I have been asked to make more of these and I think that we have come up with one of the best things I have ever done in leather. Arne Mason provided the initial inspiration and we have run with it to create the Mason model of case.

This is more than standard marketing hype. I can't tell you how excited I am about this case. It's like an envelope case on steroids to me and makes me proud to be a case maker.

So thank you Arne for the inspiration and thank you Shorty for allowing me to experiment on you.

Anyone who is interested should contact Arne and have him build you a case because I have no doubt that it's heirloom quality.

John
i like those shorty cases
especially with the design

thanks for pictures

Check your email for the design we talked about. This case is the prelude to yours. I am not sure right now if I want to keep this one or sell it. I took it out for a test drive yesterday and I just love everything about it.

It's not as protective as a hard case from outside impact but it's not a soft case either. The case is super light and yet it has great form.

Very nice style. Classy yet understated. Ultra clean appearance.

Thanks for sharing,
Chris

send it to me the way it is

Consider it done. Can you wait one more week though so we can save on shipping costs?

I like that mason case. I really do not like tooled leather. My dad was a big leather fan and I was raised listening to him say that was damaged leather.

I prefer box style cases. There is no reasonable way to regularly carry a good cue in a tube case in my view, and only my view matters for my cues. They are great for storage and that's mostly what I use them for.

Fishing rod cases have of course been a long time inspiration for cue cases and some of the old ones actually were rod cases.

I like the inspiration you took. Those are very nicely done.

i bought about 5 of these.but i sold them/most were sold after i tried to keep it
i just can't hold on to them

i want somethimg a little uglier and heavier.
these sell too fast for me to get used to them

keep up the great work john
