Bad news in Denver.

I was going to show up for this and see other local AZB people. Are any of the AZB people going to show up anyway?
I could put my legendary Lucasi on display if that would help.

LMAO. Bruce there will be another time. I am due to get of the crutch's in about a week and a half. I cant wait to play again;).

I was just informed that due to other financial obligations Billiards Ink in Englewood, Colorado are having to cancel the exhibition and challenge match featuring Johnny Archer and Dennis Hatch. The event was suppossed to take place on Friday Dec 3rd.

Obviously none of us are happy about this especially at such short notice as alot of work has gone into making this happen and schedules re arranged etc.

I am sorry to anyone who was planning to attend but it is out of my hands. Hopefully we will be able to make something big happen in the Denver area in the future.
I keep trying :(
Mark,

I'm glad you let me know several people from amarillo was going to watch it.

It may be busy as alot of people have not got the word of the cancellation yet because the news was so last minute.

Ah, ok. Well I guess the word got to Amarillo, TX thats about 6hrs away. I am very glad that those people didn't travel all that way.

I think a few folks that were heading to Denver to see this event are still going for a pool weekend. I have some friends and fellow AZer stopping by my place to play some on the big oak monster. It will be my first try at pool since mt surgery over 5 weeks ago. I am still in a cast so I don't expect much but you have to start sometime;).

Thanks again Mark and I will be in touch.

I know how this is gonna sound but I got to say it. I hate the fact that Billiards ink is going to get a bunch of people in that pool room tonight and that they are gonna make money on the back of an event that they have cancelled and left 3 people in a position where they have lost money and time making that event happen.
Theres a good marketing idea, lets book top talent pro players and let them do all the marketing for the event and announce it with flyers to leagues etc and then camcel it at the last min. That way it will be hard to let people know its cancelled in time and we will have a full pool room that night and not have to pay. NO don't worry that people have made arrangements and spent money to help make sure it happened.

I know I sound bitter but none of us are rich and for me personally this event was my kids christmas presents money. Now I am FU*%ed. But hey Billiards in are gonna be ok.

Mark, it's a bunch of BS to cancel at the last moment.....you have every right to be PISSED, and the tone of your posts around the subject has been incredibly considerate under the circumstances....

A local pool enthusiast and leader in the Denver area needs to have a talk with the ownership/decision maker on this.....cancelling the day before is NOT acceptable and they owe you money for expenses incurred.....period....this type of incident puts a little black eye on Denver pool.....

Sucks, hope they make this right....

Thanks for backing me up. I didn't want to say it but this has caused me so many problems that I just could not help myself. Its sucks to go to work and then not get paid. I'm sure nobody likes that to happen to them. Thanks again for the support.

A written contract might be beneficial in the future !!

I agree with you, however we have done business before with this Pool room and he gave me his word. I know thats old fashioned an all that but I trusted that he would be good for it. Also even with a contract, if he don't have the $$ he just don't have the $$. So I can take him to court but that just takes more time away from trying to make a living. I do agree with you though.

Man, I just got a call from a league operator who had alot of people heading to the pool room tonight. Why am I feeling bad and having to appologise?

That ol bait and switch. ..US Open style

Well I am interested to hear what is told to people who show up to see the show. I wonder if they will take responsibility.

I honestly see no reason why you should feel bad, you did your best, and the other party did not do as promised to make the event happen.

Maybe you should just be honest, saying due to the other parties not being able to do as promised, you could not do as you were prepared to do.

I see no fault on your part from your post, the fault is the venue, no you.
