Maybe he will add some insight into these cues. They are nice looking cues and I would venture to say if he is involved there are no worries.

I want to clarify, Tommie1351 has no connection to the this Unity account. Tommie has not PM anyone under the Unity account. It is us at Unity.

Sweet looking cues. If they play as good as they look I don't think you'll have any problems selling them. Good luck to you.

Think these Cue are a another CHOICE to IMPORTS, at a Fair Price for a Produce MADE in the USA.

When the Unity Cues were shown at the West Coast Cue Show in November, people were impressed.

My apologies - it was Joe's comment, plus Tommie's thread about Unity, that led me to believe this.

I like the thin Hoppe ring with thin buttcap - very close to an option available with old M26 1/2's.

In all sincerity, good luck with your venture,

Scott

Earlier this week, I asked Tommie to send me a couple of these Unity cues. I picked up a curly maple model and a rosewood one. Both had linen wraps.

First thing I noticed about the cues is that they appear very well constructed. The finish is excellent, and the fit is very good. The second thing that I noticed is that the balance makes the cues feel lighter than they are...very neutral balance. The 18.5oz cue (curly maple) feels light as a feather.

The hit, in my opinion, is medium firm. The shafts have a very nice, longer "players" taper without picking up any whip at all.

I had some of the better players at the pool room hit with the cues, and they could not believe that they were only $320 retail cues. Honestly, they play much better. One of the players who tried them out was Richard "the Kid" Barney, the 4 time Jr National champion. He was really impressed with the cues and the way they hit, and he is very particular about cues.

To me, when you have the choice between one of these American made cues and an import, the choice is a "no-brainer"...buy American.

To Tommie and the guys at Unity, many thanks for the opportunity to try these cues, and I wish you much success. I really believe that anyone who picks up one of these cues at the price point you have these at will get a real "winner" of a cue.

Thanks,
Joe

are these cues cored or not? or does it depend on the cuemaker's choice?
if these cues are made by several american cue makers, does it mean that the dimensions and tapers are different per maker? is it also each cuemakers choice as to what finish to use?
essentially are the cues made to each of the different cuemakers specifications or was everything standardized when they decided to make the unity cues?

Edited: They are 'Custome', so my assumption was that you can choose your own design and features within some sort of limited range.

Yes, I have noticed they are 'Custome'. But I was wondering about the ones in the pictures, the ones that were made without any customer's 'Custome' specifications.
Will the finish of each one vary because of the different initial cue maker? (Different CMs might have different finish formula's and processes)
or was it made like assembly line: where one tapered the shafts, another one tapered the butts, another one applied the finish, that way they're made more consistently to each other.

Reply to Joe at BAMACUES:

Joe-I posted in an earlier thread that I had received one of the first (Original) Unity Cues.

For the most part, you echoed my exact description.

"Jackson" won one of the other "Original" cues in a raffle a week ago. After playing with her cue over the weekend, gave a report which again spoke of 'Perfect Balance', ease of play, and great finish.

We are three completely separate individuals with different likes and needs for a pool cue. With three or four different cues being compared, the descriptions remain the same. Quality, USA made cues at a damn fair price.

Give these cues a try, you will be quite impressed.

Joe - thanks for your independent input.

You have TWO Pierce cues and a Calaluca? It's great to hear these 'independent' reviews from people with different likes and needs for a pool cue. Sounds like these Unity cues are made for EVERY player, regardless of likes and needs.

Congrats to the guys at Unity!

I would like to have one of these Cue as a Bar Cue, when I want to go play in a Bar, and not worry about one of my Fancy Cues.

Unity cues may not be for everyone. If you like the whippiness of a Meucci, you will not like them. If you like the big pin, wood to wood feel in a medium-firm playing cue, and you have a budget of around $300, go for a Unity before you reach for an import. I think you will be glad that you did.

Yes, congrats to the guys at Unity for building a nice, American made, affordable custom player.

I'm curious, what imported cues in that price range are these cues supposed to be an alternative for? Setting aside the factual reasons why you think American made is always > cues made abroad (Japan? Germany?), I simply don't see the clutch of foreign cues these guys are gunning after.

To me these are, if anything, alternatives to mid-range US production cues like Joss or Mcdermott, and low-end US custom cues from various makers.

Any that one was considering purchasing...custom built verus production at around the same cost. Maybe not for everyone, but for some. If you personally prefer imports, then by all means, buy them, if that is what you want. I just feel that these are a better alternative. To each his (or her) own, though.
