Bring Back Earl

OK, it is time to bring Earl back to our Mosconi Cup Team, he will add the extra push and fire they needed to reach the finish line. He thrives on the pressure, and love him or hate him, no one handles the pressure better. After listening to the people in the stands, and all the warnings that the great officials handed out, I bet our American players and fans, will be primed for the next contest.

I suppose our definitions differ, but flipping off the crowd isn't a good characteristic of someone that handles pressure well.

He can bring himself back with a top ranking next year.

There are other players that were on this years team that have no lit it up this year as far as tournament play goes. At least Earl won a major event in the Steve Mizerak touranment.

What major events did Hatch even play in last year? I think he even skipped the US-Open. IMO a spot on the Mosconi Cup should be given to the players who are actually making an effort to play in pro events and keep themselves in that fighting form that constant pro level competition provides.

Was there even a vote this year for the last two players like there was last year? Why not? Was Earl's ranking actually high enough that he would be one of the picks and the Mosconi Cup did not want to leave it up to the fans because they knew he would be voted in? I am guessing that is a strong possibility.

Talked with him this morning and discussed the Cup.

He feels like the players treat it more like a vacation than what it is. It's 100% business. He also thinks friends and family should stay at home. Too many distractions going on.

I agree. He's a winner and his fire is needed! I think he's also more in control emotionally then in past years.

Have you never flipped someone the bird? Sure, Earl wears his emotions on his sleve, and in this case on his hand, but when people keep pushing you, sonner or later you better push back, or they will push you right over the cliff. I think we had an outstanding team this year, but I also believe, that the crowd were able to inject themselves into the game. I did see most of the lucky rolls going to Europe. I think our guys showed a lot of heart, and put up a great fight. How could anyone watch this, and not want their children or grandchildren to grow up and play on our Mosconi Cup Team.

The day they snapped that picture of Earl, if the cameras and mics were on the crowd, you might see the reason he was upset.

Let me make this simple.....

Do you want Earl or Johnny? Plain and simple Johnny isn't going to team with Earl anymore, so who ya got?

How in the world Morris and Hatch make the team and one of the ALL time greats like the Pearl don't is beyond me. Neither one of the above mentioned players have nearly the resume that Earl does. I think its because Johnny Archer does not like Earl. And I don't want to hear let him play his way on. Like Hatch did? Last year he won the vote wow im impressed. What has he done in any tourneys this year? I don't recall hearing him win anything and the way he played the best in the world this week shows he does not belong with the likes of Mika or Ralf. Earl on the other hand won a 10 ball championship that all the big players showed up for in fact he knocked Mika, and Duel out of that tourney. Hatch wasn't even there. BRING STRICKLAND BACK!!

Why? Let's keep a team of real players from the professional pool world.

If early would stay quiet and just play the game and nothing but i'm sure there wouldn't be a problem with it.

Trouble is, he can't.

I can certainly see your point, but I still like Dennis to be in it, as previously mentioned he was last years MVP so in my opinion it would have been an injustice not to have Dennis on the Team this year. He sure didn't play bad from what I had seen so to me he would be a great choice for the next one as well, but I must admit.. I am a huge Dennis fan.

Where the heck did you hear that? You have a reference for that claim?

Johnny actively campaigned to get Earl off the team in the first place. He said Earl killed team morale & was the reason we lost to the Euros.

We may find out pretty soon

I live in Greensboro and get a pretty good inside line on where Earl is at - mentally and game wise. He, as well as others like Mark "TWheels" Cantrill and Mike Gulyassy, firmly believe he is playing the best pool OF HIS LIFE. This new Gulyassy 63" inch, 24 ounce cue seems part of the reason for his resurgence. (or is it 64", 23 oz?)

To me, one big tourney win isn't enough to convince me he's back in form.

Turning Stone starts in 3 days and Earl will be there (as will the entire US Cup team and Daz). I'm very excited to see if his resurgence, and ability to hold it together, is fact or fiction. Until he's got more recent top shelf performances under his belt, he may be considered... "too risky" to play a M Cup team event on contentious foreign soil. JMHO.

I'm rooting HUGE for Earl to make a long run. You want to watch - say for example - a Ralf robot or Earl? (no disrespect to the Kaiser).

GO EARL! If he mows through Turning Stone like he did the Miz, oh my, the pool world will start shaking!

If Earl gets back to form and conducts himself reasonably, Johnny's opinion and stance will have an opportunity and a reason to change. The ball is in Earl's court.
