True Confessions

On the one hand I applaud your apparent commitment to the game, and on the other hand, all I can think is, Y-I-K-E-S!

Has anyone seen my sunglasses?

Okay, that's better....

Welcome to azb!

Best,

Bout the ball polisher, you can go to youtube and type in ball polisher and it should pop up. It basically consists of a car buffer ($30-$40), a 5 gallon bucket (free-$5), and some cleaning solution and liquid carnuba wax ($10). You cut the bottom of the bucket out and mount the car buffer in there. I used a scrap piece of carpet to make it fit snugger. I mounted mine with some fancy brackets and a piece of bailing wire ( I live in Oklahoma, perfectly acceptable). Works great, I just put the balls in and spray them down with windex and squirt some liquid car wax and let it go for like 5 minutes and then your done. Make sure to set a catch bucket around it, or do it outside. I had a leaky bucket my first time.

Well, it's always fun to create a sensation with the pink table. The thing I always tell people when they ask, "Why pink?" (besides the fact that it's totally awesome!) is that it intimidates the boys when they come over to play pool with me.

Lisa, I would love to get together to play a few racks sometime. I am always up for a game of pool! And I would really, really love to have a conversation about getting a custom made pink stick. I have no idea what something like that goes for, but I've definitely been on the prowl for a nicer (girly) stick lately... and I'm feeling disappointed by what I've seen available. I'm looking for something in the $500 to $600 range... I really don't know how far that will get me... but a girl has to dream.

Paulie.... I'm not sure, but my intuition is telling me that it's really something to leave you speechless.... I'm feeling somewhat accomplished....

Oh, Zbotiman, I certainly hope that the day I stop playing in heels will be the day that the undertaker ties a tag to my toe.... and I really hope that tag is pink as well.

Hey Harmy76, I like your avatar... It looks like you're into pink and purple too! I really like the sound of that ball polisher. I believe I'm going to have to give that a try.

LeagueShirts, here's a funny story... When I bought the table from Goldenwest, I actually went to the factory, which is about half a mile from my house, and got to tour the factory floor. They have a very nice operation going on over there. When I asked that the pink cloth be put on my table, I was told that they've only ever put pink cloth on one other table... Aparently some guy here in town really pissed his wife off a few years back, and so to get back at him, she had his table recovered in pink... Clearly, a woman after my own heart.

When you want to recover your table why not go back to where you bought it, since they covered it with pink the first time. Just a suggestion.
Welcome to AZ.

hmmm pink stick? maybe not exactly pink, however pretty girly girl cue anyway (and owned by my wife, with no hope whatsoever that she ever will give it up ;) ):

Nice table, Katie Girl. First time I've seen a table with pink cloth, too. lol Seems like you're doing well as a beginner. =)

LeagueShirts...Consider yourself lucky. There used to be a chain of poolrooms called, what else? Pinky's! Yep...all the tables had pink cloth (shudder). There was one in Vegas with about 30 tables.

No offense intended to you Katie Girl! :D

The Pinky's in Omaha, NB had 108 tables....all pink, so did the one in Denver, Co. with 50 tables:D

Okay, I have not been playing pool for very long. I first picked up a cue on May 1st of 2009. One week later I purchased my first cue... a McDermott MG14. Five weeks after that I purchased an 8x4 Goldenwest pool table and converted my living room into a billiards room (I got tired of hanging out in bars every night.)

So, here's my confession... for the first year I was so good about taking care of that table. I brushed it at the end of every day, and covered it too. Every other week I vacuumed the table, wiped it down with a damp cloth and polished the Aramith Super Pro balls. In the past 6 or 7 months I've gotten kind of lazy. I brush the table every couple of weeks; I never cover it anymore, and I vacuum the table and polish the balls when I notice that they're getting grubby. I play the table every single day for at least 2 or 3 hours. So, there's a question that goes with this confession... What are the consequences of neglecting a table in this way? I expect to need to replace the cloth sometime soon... as much as I play the table, I'm surprised that the cloth is still in as good of shape as it is. The balls are holding up fine. And the table seems to play just fine for my purposes... helping me to get my chops up to speed to hold my own in league.

I'd love to hear some perspective on the error of my ways.

Thank you all.
Katie

As long as you vacuum it at least a couple of times a month with a brush on the hose, you'll remove all the dust that filters through the cloth, which in turn wears out the cloth from the bottom side up. Change the spot once in a while too, so the cloth won't wear though the cloth at point ball in the rack.

Im guessing that there are a lot of guys on her expecting to se a picture of you playing in your skirt and high-heels! You gotta watch yourself around here. There are many a keyboard jockeys who fancy themselves as a ladies man!

By the way, I kind of like that pink. Seems kinda HD like the tourney blue cloth....

How dare you suggest that the guys around here are like that! But, well, if you DID happen to have a picture like that *cough* ... you could always post it just to umm... introduce yourself further. Yeah, that's it! :D

I for one....being a "GUY" wouldn't be interested in seeing her in a dress, pants or anything of the likes....BUT now...in a set of "PINK" panties and bra........well, add holding your cue and getting ready to shoot a shot on your "PINK" cloth covered pool table...and well:yikes::grin-loving::grin-devilish:

First of all, That was an inticing thread name  And second....... it
sounds like you are taking pretty good care of your table. Keep
practicing and dont worry SO much about it .

Thank you all so very much for all the advice and guidance. I feel much more relaxed about how I take care of my table.

Pink panties, pink bra, heels, pink stick and my pink table, huh KingCobra? Funny you should say... (true story) I happen to be wearing pink panties and bra today... and heels.. under my short brown dress... promise me that you won't hold your breath for those pictures though.:p

I dressed for work this morning with a mind towards being ready to compete tonight. I will be entering my VERY FIRST EVER non-league, cash pool tournament this evening! I don't know how many people will enter the field. I don't know what the compeition will be like. I don't know how I'm going to react under the pressure of competing for money in an unfamiliar crowd. All I know is that the game is 8 ball, the buy-in is $5 (doubled by the house), and I intend to give it everything I've got! Even in heels!

Funny, JSP.... there truely are hazards to seeing the world through pink colored glasses...

By the way, if you come in here asking for grapes again I'm going to nail your beak to the bar......... Sorry, I couldn't resist:)
