Can LD shafts be turned down?

I had my OB-classic turned down to 12.5mm about 6 months ago. It plays great. I have no idea if that voids the warranty, but I really don't care.

You can buy a laminated partial at Atlas and have a cue maker turn it to your specs so I don't see why not within reason.

I will make you a custom LD ferrule-less 12.25mm shaft.

Turning LD shafts
The amount you can safely turn one down probably depends on which shaft it is. Some are hollow, or cored, and some are not. I would think each company could advise you as to how much you could turn their specific shaft down, as OB has done. I had a friend who bought one of the very first predator 314s, had it turned down, and then twisted the whole end, ferrule and all, off with one of those plastic Porper tip burnishers. One the bright side, though, we got to see what the inside of a Predator looked like:smile:

I'm pretty sure that you can order an OB1 shaft to a smaller size down to a minimum limit and I think you would be close to the minimum at 12.25mm. Contact them through their web site or give them a call to find out for sure.
