There is a lot of sheepish internet noise it could be due to all the tension on the topic. But in the theme of remaining objective, this thread has been here longer they it needs to and is starting to serve other purposes. Like the personal offend/defend USPPA personalities posts.
The pool community has stayed the same but the financial tools available to people are changing. It would be great if people in the community learned about them, introduced them or players start demanding them. It would be ignorant to just ignore the existence of financial tools to protect investors/shareholders from these types of situations.
An organizer that can get crowds is great but is common and expected. An organizer that knows and implements the latest in financial securities to their customers in terms of guarantees, warranties or returns should be standard practice by now but most likely isn't because people think putting cash in a metal lock box is just as good as other financial products, until people start asking questions or demanding better service.
Is this a sign of the changing times that people that hold the cash, put up the cash or organize cash distribution need to be safeguarded against? Or is the real risk the players who show up, put on a good show and are left in the cold after the event because the prize money was just a marketing tool?
In the past the word escrow has been mentioned. But that would involve someone representing the players to be involved.
