USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

Pool is an international sport, so is hustling.
You are a classless bigot

I meant to say people who are better at expressing a variety of ideas in a language are usually the people that hustle others. The class thing wasn't intentionally, this should clarify it. Thanks for proof reading. Your comments helped.

I am not backing Tony her but on his web site it is stated(although hidden away behind a window) but clearly stated that, all incentive events require
staying at the host site, i.e. The Peppermill. Whatever that means. I would say the poker event was an incentive event. What else could that mean:? Now what the penalty is, it does not state but I guess you found out.

This is the best post yet. Yet another excuse to add to the list. CUFF. Pay your $50 and be thankful Tony didn't poke you with his pencil.

Hey Cady,

That was not on there originaly. He has added that to cover his excuses for not paying players. If this was in effect during the poker challenge, the Peppermill would have asked him for his room key or room number before allowing him to play. I have played in many of these tournaments at casinos and not all of them require players to stay at the host casino. If this was true then Carl Wilson (who lives in reno) that placed 8th or 7th and recieved 1900 would have to pay his back.

If this is true, it just keeps getting worse and worse...........

A major distinction for prize paying events is if the funds held are in an insured account, something protected from theft or financial bankruptcy.

I will not develop the details of problems of people holding money for investors, lottery winners or tournament players in cash. I think that is evident.

I will develop an idea about the process of holding money, like in an insured checking account, an insured online voucher, or even prepaid credit. There are many different ways to protect money. Of all the ways which can be demonstrated to players or investors before a tournament begins? All of them. Is this practice common? No, because people just want to play pool and not worry about the financial challenges, its a common marketing tool to distract buyers until they hand over info.

Where would the money come from to begin with?

Where would the money come from to begin with?

The prize money usually comes from "anonymous" or generous pool supporters that want to hook up with a "great" pool promoter.

Where has this EVER happened?

World 14.1 in New Brunswick 2006 sponsored by some real estate guy, putting up some obscene amount of money that was paid to players.

The recent 14.1 2010 at Breakers by some medical professional again he put up an obscene amount that was paid to players.

You bring up a good point. Since there are so many competing factions for establishing and promoting pool, wouldn't it be better to pool resources together and create one superfaction to promote and support professional pool players. And then incorporate amateur events from that.

Currently there are too many new groups trying to bring pool in front of people's faces.

Just Numb over justnum

justnum,

This topic is about "USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?".

Why don't you just start a new topic about how you think you can save the financial world of pool. You seem to have some great thoughts about that.

:outtahere:

Yeh Chris, seems bogus. I just went looking for that statement on his website because I thought I had seen something to that effet on a flyer I was given about the tourny by Al awhile back. It makes no sense to be disqualified if you live close to Reno.
I have no idea if that was added later. I take your word for it as it makes no sense being a requirement and your logic is correct.

Here is a copy of the new flier and in the rules I still dont see any mention of having to stay in the hotel. I do know that a few people were ruled forfiet because we could not get hold of them on any phone Ie the hotel phone to there room # some players we just flat out didnt know any numbers for them to call or friends to call them so wouldn't be dqed.

Some players prepaid with a dead or bounced check and tony minused funds from there payout. If you didnt have enough sheets to play for the free role in the poker tournament then you had to pay the $225 or have it deducted from winning's.

None of his flyers or rules on paper or aon website mention having to stay at said hotel for the event its just a curtousy if we do take advantage of the lower room rate.

New Rules?

Interesting. It may even be true. However, Tony should have disclosed these qualifications prior to the tournament so proper arrangements with the hotel and tournament sheets accrued.
